Belts - how to stop looking like a sack of spuds?

Okay, so belts are in (I'm a little behind, I know). Can one of you savvy ladies please tell me how best to wear a belt without looking like a sack of spuds? I find that when I try to wear one, it looks awful so I must be doing something wrong.

Also, what style of clothes suit which belts?

Thanking you!

if it looks awful dont bother
wear what suits you not what is in fashion

Do you mean the wide belts that go round jumpers etc?

I tried one round a jumper dress and it looked great gave me a waist which I haven't had for a while I have since put on about another half a stone and now it is making me look like a sack of spuds too.

I generally don't, Nailpolish!

However I have some belts in my drawer which I've never really worn as I'm not sure how best to wear them. If they don't suit me then fine. But I would like to check that I'm actually wearing them appropriately. I could do with making my waist look smaller!

what nailpolish said. aside from losing a stone there isn't alot that can be done

Yes, I guess I do, ForeverOptimistic. They look fab on some people but I guess I just lack confidence where clothes are concerned.

I know what you mean about lacking confidence with clothes, lots of the mums at school are wearing hats at the moment because it is so cold. I would love to wear a head but I just know that it would look ridiclous because I would be so self conscious about it. It took me ages to wear knee length boots because I was convinced everyone would think I looked daft even though they actually looked okay!

I sympathise, ForeverOptimistic. I bought a butcher boy hat last year winter and wear it a lot. Thought it looked 'okay' but I always get compliments when I wear it so I must be doing something right. Just have to convince myself.

My DS is now 2 but I'm still not happy with the way I look. Need to work on the wobbly bits. Could do with a complete overhaul and makeover! {grin]
