Indulge me...

I wear jeans most days in the autumn/ winter, and on most nights out I go on too. (not that I go on many but still).

So it really matters to me to have flattering, well cut jeans. I'm a size 14 with a short leg btw, and need all the help I can get. About 6 years ago, I bought a pair of jeans from River Island that I really liked - they were nothing special on the hanger, just ordinary stretch bootcuts with a bit of strategic fading, but as I wore them I liked them so much I went back and bought a second identical pair.

Fast forward 6 years and I wish I had bought ten pairs when I had the chance! They have proved to be my all time, life long favourite jeans and I swear they take half a stone off me. Meanwhile, feel my agony as the two pairs I did buy fade and fray until near breaking point. Needless to say no other jeans, even from RI, have come close.

So please share my joy at now - all these years later - finding TWO of these pairs of exact jeans in my size, in new condition, on ebay!!! I have received them now and am practically dancing with joy - I feel as if my wardrobe has been given a 'second chance of happiness'.

And at roughly ten quid each a pop I am just beside myself. I'll keep an eye out for even more now, so I can wear these jeans until I die.

And it's a virtuous circle as I didn't create more landfill and all my guff, ill fitting jeans can go promptly to the charity shop.

YAY EBAY!!! What on earth did we do without it

lol, reading back my post I should add that I'm lucky enough to have two short legs, in case you were imagining me as a very happy and well dressed pirate

They're short as in petite. 30 inches.

My favourite ever jeans were river island too, tey don't seem to have such flattering ones now wish I'd bought more. No idea what they were called though! Well done!

well i will share with you my ebay joy

After searching high and low for a pair of boots that fit my fat calves, came up high enough in the leg and were a wide fit for my feet I gave up.I was willing to spend up to £150.Had even gone to Duo shop and wasn't impressed.

One search on ebay and I now have a fab pair of clarks wide fitting boots that are practically new ..for £36 !!!

MorrisZapp · 26/11/2008 14:42

Mine don't have a name that I know of. I just scoured the pictures looking for the exact fading pattern and tiny bits of distressing on the hip.

Where there's a will there's a way, used2be!

It is great when things like that happen. Enjoy your jeans.

surprise · 26/11/2008 14:54

check out oxfam online too, as they now have a second-hand clothes section. may you find many more pairs

Salleroo · 26/11/2008 15:10

my faves are RI too, but lately their jeans are all a bit bling on the bum and with too much fussiness going on. I still go in to see if they would have mine back in - 3 years later. Still waiting...

MorrisZapp · 26/11/2008 16:18

Totally agree re 'bum-bling' on current RI jeans.

Their jeans are now wildly over designed and clearly aimed at the mini-wag market.

I wonder if they'll ever again produce relatively simple, basic styles. We live in hope!

I want the cut of my jeans to do the talking, not the imitation diamonds stuck with pritt stick to my arse.

Oh! Such joy

Well done. I love stories like this.

I am still looking for my 'magic' jeans
They were by Cavaricci - from a charity shop about 8 years ago. I bought them for about 4 quid and instantly I had men asking me out in the street

Really really odd. I met the love of my life in those few weeks, well I thought he was - haven't found another pair of jeans like them or, sadly, another man like him...

They were black flares, don't fit any more and the knees have ripped...but I cannot bin them.

Yay indeed for ebay, I bought a bag from Topshop for 30 quid, loved and used it to death, was gutted I never bought a 2nd one but I couldn't justify the money. Thought i'd take a look on ebay for a new bag, and there was my bad, new with tags on unused - I got it for just over a tenner!

ilovejonty · 27/11/2008 08:42

Ebay's great

My best ebay purchase was a pair of 'as new' Russell and Bromley boots for 99p, that was about 4 years ago and I'm still wearing them!!
