My lips hurt. They look horrible. When I smile they crack

The only thing that ever works is the medicated chapstick but I've run out. Vaseline is doing nothing

What do you use?

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream or that blisteze stuff depending on cash flow. Smooch by Benefit for daily maintenance.

lumpsdumps · 24/11/2008 19:54

smother them in Nivea before you go to bed and they come up lovely

MrsHappy · 24/11/2008 19:54

Am completely addicted to plain Lipsyl.
If they ever discontinue it I am sure my lips will fall off.

ScummyMummy · 24/11/2008 19:55

Burts bees is good.

SuperBunny · 24/11/2008 20:04

MrsHappy, I think that may be what happened here - no chapstick so my lips are about to drop off. Ouch.

Burts bees is really sticky. I like their coloured ones though.

Nivea is good idea.

That 8 hr cream is good to. I wonder if I'll get some for xmas

Get Blistex Relief Cream from the chemist or from some supermarkets like Tesco. It is fabulous stuff, you can feel it tingle. It's not quite lipbalm but comes in a small tube. I put it over lip colour/pencil and mine look all dewy! Your lips will feel better almost immediately and within a week they will be fab.

cheekysealion · 24/11/2008 21:54

you need the same again- medicated tesco do there own version adn sell it in tesco express if you have one near you

once they are healed use lipbalm daily my current fave is Palmers cocoa butter- peppermint and dark chocolate flavour.. and it stops me munching chocolate!!!

honestfriend · 24/11/2008 22:14

CARMEX lipbalm (comes in a little yellow pot) - available from Boots. I rate this very highly, it smells great and makes your lips tingle too

Baby Bottom Butter from Waitrose. The business, and a pot lasts forever.

BikeRunSki · 25/11/2008 22:06

Blistex Daily Lip conditioner to sort them out.

Body Shop Honey and Beeswax lip balm to keep 'em nice.

Lasinoh too!

babyOcho · 25/11/2008 22:09

Carmex is really great, also kiehls

BirdyArms · 25/11/2008 22:15

I alternate Carmex and Blistex during the day and use lanisoh at night when mine are bad.

CoolYourJets · 25/11/2008 22:18

Blistex all the way. The one that used to be blisteze

Katiekitty · 26/11/2008 09:22

Got to be Carmex. I used to be an 8 hour user, I didn't use anything else for about 10 years, then during a cash flow crisis I got some carmex and have never looked back. It's even better than 8 Hour, really, honestly and truly! I have to admit that when I used 8 Hour if I applied lipstick over the top of it, the lippy wouldnt stay on - another bonus with Carmex is that if you blot, you can then apply your lippy at will over it and it stays lovely.
It also comes in a little tube that you can slip into your bag or pocket if space is tight and you can't accommodate the yellow pot version.
Have you taken the plunge and tried any of the suggestions Superbunny? I hope your sore lips are on the mend, there's nothing worse.

wilbur · 26/11/2008 09:25

Another vote for Carmex. It's the best, and I come from a long lline of people with hideously chapped lips and cracked heels. I have been known to use Carmex on my feet.

bluebump · 26/11/2008 10:24

The same Blistex as CoolYourJets has linked too is fab so I use that when my lips are seriously dry. Otherwise Molton Browns lip balm or for daily use Balm Balm's Rose & Geranium balm is lovely but I can't seem to get it to link properly here...

ilovemydog · 26/11/2008 10:26

carmex
lansinoh

for blow the budget - kiehls

iloverosycheeks · 26/11/2008 10:28

Carmex carmex carmex - wherever I go that little yellow pot comes with me!

wigparty · 26/11/2008 10:58

Nivea lip care sos lip balm is great - looks nice on too!

orangina · 26/11/2008 11:06

carmex. always sorts my crisis lips out within a day or two....

hellywobs · 26/11/2008 14:50

I like Aveda lipsaver - it feels really nice and also has an SPF 15. Costs £7 I think so not cheap but worth it.
