anyone had a bad reaction to Dermalogica?

For the last 6 days I've been using Dermalogica's Special Cleansing Gel, Multi-active toner, and Active Moist. I have very, very sensitive skin. When it's been newly washed it looks very flaky, but even with a moisturiser on, my skin pumps oil out at a rate of knots (I suspect my polycystic ovary syndrome's mostly responsible for that), and so also have lots of blackheads, and by the end of the day my t-zone can be incredibly oily.

My problem has been finding something that will help with the blackheads, but that won't irritate my skin and make it flake. And also a moisturiser that issn't too greasy, or too light.

I was impressed with the Dermalogica stuff for the first 2 days, but yesterday and today I have noticed the dreaded tingling and tightening feeling coming throughout the day - usually a sign with me that something in a product is not suiting my skin. It usually happens about 4 or 5 days after starting to use a new product. I then notice my skin starting to thicken up, redden and get tiny cracks in.

I was wondering whether it might be the Multi-Active Toner, as I've noticed that it makes my face tingle quite a bit when I've sprayed it on (not in a nice way!). Thought it was supposed to do that, seeing as it's got mint in it, but maybe it shouldn't feel like that. Does anyone else use that toner?

I will be gutted if I have to stop using the dermalogica stuff because, as I say, for the first couple of days I thought I'd discovered the Holy Grail of skin care! Can anyone help?

I have tried Beauty Flash before, I wont use them again as I have found oce I have purchased they changed their price, this is so unproffessional, I have friends who have also had it happen to them, be very careful of this business fellow mumsnet followers.

My skin is hyper sensitive.
I am a convert to the Simple range of products - use their Age Resisting Day and Night Cream plus their normal moisturiser through the day. Skin seems happy
oh for the odd break out or blackheads my skin seems able to tolerate the clearasil stay clear pads
it is a pain having sensitive skin as you have to be so careful when using products.

My beauty therapist started Beauty Flash and I have never had a problem - I can order something one afternoon and it arrives usually the next morning, which is pretty good going (better than Ren who seem to use Dropit, Hideit and Loseit. There are, however, 2 Beuty Flash websites, I use the original one which is an official stockist.

I have never had a reaction to Dermalogica and if you use products recommended by their specialists after a skin assessment they will refund your money if they don't suit you.

I would say, OP, that your regime sounds too harsh and try the more gentle products.

I loved it for yrs, then suddenly the other wk my skin smoothing cream started making my skin itch...and feel dry etc. Gutted. Still love the ultra calming cleanser though, and am a fan of their products.

Am using No.7 protect & perfect at the mo which seems ok touch wood.

I love Dermaolgica cleanser, exfoliators and moisturisers and use them regularly. But I react to the multi active toner.

Finally got a chance to use my Christmas treat - a Dermalogica facial. Now my face is burnt, red, and blotchy (and I don't have sensitive skin). Beware! Any suggestions how I can calm my face & look vaguely presentable tomorrow?

I had a bad reaction to dermalogica a few years ago, the soothing protection spray made my face go bright red and burn like hell. After rinsing repeatedly didn't work, I dived into the fridge and covered my face in the coolest thing I could find - a tub of natural yogurt. It did help with the burning, but I was blotchy for some time. I hope your face calms down soon :-(

Dermalogica was too strong for my skin - I don't react to much but the toner made my skin crazy and tight.

I now use Liz Earle - in my second month and my skin is so soft. Still got some spots but I think that is hormones / stress but the skin around the spots looks nice!

I find the ultra calming range fab..Swear by it.

I have had a problem with that toner, yes. I can use the other stuff fine.

Hi, its best to look on www.dermalogica.co.uk site for your local stockist of dermalogica. They should be able to advise you on the right products and give you samples to try before you buy. Remember your skincare therapists are there to help and assist you to get optimum skin health.
And if you have a problem with any of the products they can sort it out for you.
Hop this helps...

I get acne from most moisturizers and OCM clogs my pores.
Eucerin 5% urea cream is fabulous stuff - it keeps the flakiness under control but doesn't clog pores.

I wouldn't do scrubs on skin like yours. No need. Scrubs increase flakiness and toners make dry skin drier.

I started using Dermalogica daily microfoliant and loved it at first. After I while i began to notice that it would burn my face when I used it. One morning after getting the burning sensation while using it, I woke up to my face completely swollen, blood red, thick, scaly, and peeling like an extremely bad sunburn. I had to go to my doctor and be put on steroids to treat it. Has anyone had this happen to them after using this product? I have never been one to be sensitive to any kind of facial product so I have to ask.
