Skin under my eyes has gone all dry and flaky - any good creams, or tips?

Not eczema or anything, just localised dry skin which makes my Touche Eclat really obvious and horrible looking. Also my lines are looking bad and the concealer gathers in them too.

Am 37, quite dark circles, bags only when tired (hmm, most of the time then)

Need an urgent solution!

touché éclat sent my eyes red raw and ihad used it for years too
Now cannot use it

trixiethepixie · 14/11/2008 13:22

You might have got a bit of contact dermatitus. This happened to me recently (while pissed splashed some wine in my eye)and touche eclat was making it worse. I took antihistamines for a couple of days and avoided wearing eye make-up and it cleared up.

Right I havent read any of the answers on here but just wanted to swoop in and say that I use nipple cream under my eyes...

I had some left over after finishing breadtfeeding and didn't want it to go to waste. I really like it and may keep using it after this pot runs out.

here

I had the same reaction to Touche Eclat having used it for a couple of years - I do without now. Thread here:

Forgot to say in the short term I used Eumocream under my eyes to clear it up - very gentle, rich and comforting.

stickybeaker · 14/11/2008 13:29

OK I didn't actually breadfeed my daughter...

franch · 14/11/2008 18:14

No, def not dermatitis or any kind of allergy - skin isn't irritated, just crepey

Do without Touche Eclat? You obviously don't look 137 without it like me.

What gave you the idea to try that as eye cream sticky?! Looks nice!

It was just one of those things where I didn't want to waste it, and it's a really fine 'non-draggy' substance, with all natural ingredients.

I remember from doing make-up as part of drama at school, we were told to always go against the skin direction under the eye - so push cream towards the tear duct to avoid stretching the skin.

Used Vaseline under my eyes the last couple of nights and the dryness is much improved. They seem a bit puffy though, just like SilentTerror's.

Think I'll try vit E oil for night time, and get either some beneFit eyecon or some Dr Hauschka for day.

Or do you have to use eyecon twice a day for it to work?

claireyBANG · 16/11/2008 12:33

Oh yes, I forgot to mention you'd look at bit puffy for a couple of days

franch · 16/11/2008 13:00

No worries clairey. Have found a bottle of vitamin E oil. I wonder if that will have the same effect

You need Watts - I've not seen her on for a bit. She recommended aveda stuff for me. She knows her stuff.

mamalovesmojitos · 16/11/2008 13:55

i have been using a sample of dermalogica's multivitamin power firming gel thingy for lips and eye area.

its amazing, really smooth and made my under eye are feel really moisturised and soft and plumper. may be expensive though.

angelene · 16/11/2008 16:59

Kiehls do a really brilliant ultra moisturising eye gel (black pot) which cleared my weird under-eye dry flaking skin up a treat. When it's cleared up you can move to the cream which is lighter (white pot)

SilentTerror · 16/11/2008 18:36

Franch, have bought vit E capsules but not t ried them yet.
Have smeared vaseline underneath for past few nights which is helping.Have given up with Touche Eclat and reverted to No7,which is just as good.Have also taken some antihistamine and puffiness is reduced

franch · 18/11/2008 11:49

vit E oil seems to be helping, with less puffiness than vaseline. Think I'll get one of the eye creams mentioned on this thread for regular use tho - I'd guess vit E is more of an emergency thing
