Everyday coat-please help me find one!

I mentioned to my dad the other day that I don't really have an everyday coat (I have a smart, a nice thin waterproof and a gillet) and he phoned to say he wants to buy me one for christmas-and don't worry about the price
The only trouble is I NEVER get to have a nice look around the shops, and don't even really know what I want!

So I really need some suggestions about the type of coat to look for and also some links for some really nice ones!
It needs to be casual and I suppose not too long as i'm running around a 2yr old dd who loves mud

Any ideas?

I've got one and it's fab. Sizing generous tho

Thank you bubblagirl and Piffle! I love thos coats on your links bubba-trouble is how good do you think they'll be for running around after a muddy 2 yr old? I'd love to try and be a bit smarter-am very tempted to just go for it-would mud come off easily?

Just looked at the rhyme or reason one-looks great too but am thinking the same as above-what do you think?

Have a chance to get to the shops this weekend-may well be the last before christmas-will look in next and whitestuff-where else should i kook?

I saw some nice coats in Mango, and you could also try Zara, Kew, and Top Shop- depends on your budget

sammysam · 14/11/2008 14:21

Thank you! Will get to a whitestuff at least at the weekend-am staying with my mum in Taunton so my choices are very limited!!!! They do have a whitestuff though! Hopefully i'll find something but otherwise i'll have to go further afield and find a mango, zara etc as suggested by honestfriend!

I ordered the White Stuff one Piffle recommended, and it came this morning. She's right - it is huuuuuuuge. Made me look like a very pregnant weeble, and the arms were far too long. It is going back, I'm afraid.

I finally found the perfect coat yesterday in BHS.It was £75 but reduced to £60 in the 20 % off sale (so i spent my birthday money)They sell it in Petrol blue and black and it fits me like a glove(if short it would prob be too long)
