Rather embarrassing question about spots....[blush]

I just really wanted to know if anyone else has had this and if anyone is out there who can help me!.....

Since I was about 10/11 years old I've had spots on my bum cheeks! I am so embarrassed and am cringing writing this!!! I am 26 now and have had ENOUGH!

I've been to my G.P - she couldn't tell me why and I tried a contraceptive pill, can't remember what it was called but made me utterly depressed after 2 days so came of it. It's the pill that Trinny (Trinny&Susannah) claimed cleared up her acne.

I body brush religiously every morning before shower.

I'm not over weight (although I am pregnant at mo)

Nothing seems to make them better I've had a couple of years of exercising regularly - doesn't make a difference.

I have never completely cut out wheat however.

PLEASE anyone know anything and why???

TIA

It's likely you have a condition called hydradenitis suppurativa. Lots of people control this condition with diet. Acne creams won't work, antibiotics will help initially and then make it worse. Most doctors have never heard of it but it's really quite common.

Oh, wow. Just googled that, Dancingyogi. I sure hope the OP does not have it.

If it's just regular acne, then I would suggest trying washing with Hibiscrub, treating with an antibiotic ointment like someone suggested above, and taking care to keep your bum as aired-out as possible - wear cotton pants, cotton drawstring pajamas around the house, etc. Loose and breathable.

And I wouldn't expect a GP would be very helpful - you may need to see a dermatologist.

Hydradenitis Suppurativa ranges from mild to severe, so it's possibke you've googled stage 3. The milder form is described at stage 1, it's still a bloody condition. But the location and the longevity of healing are classic signs.

If the Germolene/Gerbilene (love that term for it) doesn't work, the doc can prescribe zynerit which I found quite good on my face - its a topical antibiotic and anti-inflammatory. My doc refused to prescribe during pregnancy (to be on the safe side) even though it does seem to be considered safe! So it might be worth asking your doc about it. I found a paleo diet (basically no grains/dairy) also helped my spots but again, not very suitable while pregnant but thought I'd throw it in as an option for later on.

I had Cileste once for spots. It was ok with the spots, but made me feel pregnant and broody Hmm

For the face, I use something mild to wash with now as I have found acne products too harsh and don't work and cause dryness problems. DH has Dermol for skin problems to prevent infection - it is non soapy and mildly antiseptic.www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/291279568785?limghlpsr=true&hlpv=2&ops=true&viphx=1&hlpht=true&lpid=108&chn=ps&device=c&adtype=pla&crdt=0&ff3=1&ff11=ICEP3.0.0-L&ff12=67&ff13=80&ff14=108

The I would only exfoliate once a week, use hibiscrub to wash and Eucerin 10% cream afterwards.
