Personal shoppers...

Are they expensive?
Are they worth it?
How does it work?
How much money would you need to have to spend to make it worth it?

Any info greatly appreciated!

For a post partum mum with a falling apart and empty wardrobe.

oh yes and it would be for casual and smart casual clothes that can be worn every day and pick and mix for work with some jazzy stuff for evenings too - not the jermyn st, saville row type stuff.

In London.

Personal shoppers in store (J Lewis/Debenhams/House of Fraser) are free.
My own experience at JL was not great but I gather lots of people do have more joy.
You can also pay for help, costs vary hugely.
I have some links which I saved ages ago which I can post if that woudl help?

Thankyouandgoodnight · 09/11/2008 19:39

Oh yes please the links would be a great help if you have the time.
I was thinking about one that shopped from different shops rather than an in store one that just shops in their own (obviously ).

Hi I'm quite new to mumsnet (mother of three teenaged daughters) and I have my own business as a personal shopper and image consultant. By working for myself that makes me entirely independent and I am not linked to any particular shop.

Customers come to me for a 'stuck in a rut' wardrobe re think, or for special occasion styling - job interviews included!
Some customers use me twice a year - spring and autumn to up date their wardrobe.

Using an image consultant /personal shopper is great if you have shopophobia (if there is such a word) or simply don't know what suits you any more.

Not sure where you are based but might be able to help you out if you are interested?

You should put an ad in the classified section perfectstyle.

I'm sure some people would be interested.

I booked my Dh in for one for his birthday in Selfridges. It was brilliant. We sat there sipping champagne, reading the papers and being brought chocolate and clothes to try on. I would def recommend it and am saving up for myself for Autumn 09 as my DH basically got everything he needed - I think you can spend as little or as much as you like.

If you want to save a bit of cash I know Topshop do it and Gap do too.

It would be a lovely treat for yourself. And it gives you a real 'together' wardrobe if that makes sense. I hated going out with Dh after his appointment as I felt like a complete mess and he was Mr GQ.

Do ou know what, I think I will put an ad in classifieds. I might even do it now! Being new to mumsnet i hadn't picked up on the classifieds.

Thanks haventsleptforayear
