dress help......

I've become a jeans and t-shirt girl over the years after once being more adventurous (in a retro 70's charity shop way).......i have a new dp and 'going out' will be on the agenda this Christmas season......so i'm going to buy myself a new dress.
I'm 5ft 2 and very slim (6-8). My biggest problem is trying to find a dress that doesn't look rubbish on me because i have very small boobs. So many dresses have a fitted look to them, and it is obvious i don't have anything to 'fill' the dress........

Can anyone give me some pointers for a style of dress that will suit me.....and i'm avoiding black, i have too much black in my wardrobe already.

I don't have much in the way of boobs either (and used to have even less pre children) and I find that a "ruched", cross-over style usually works pretty well. A good push-up bra is a must! Something like this may work, as long as the v-line at the back still allows for a good bra. The smallest they do is a size 8, but I think the cross-over will distract from the lack of deep cleavage.

This is the dress that I posted about on another thread yesterday, that made my small cleavage look good: Laura Ashley dress. Thinking about it, I'm not sure it's exactly the same as the one in the shop, as the one I tried didn't have a deep V in the back (ie it was fine with a good bra), but otherwise it seems identical. I think something in this general style should work for you too - I only wish I was a size 6-8!!! (I'm a 14)

Yes frilly detailing at the top is ideal as in the Monsoon one, here's another example :
wallis dress or the same in purple and black

Try to think of someone famous who has a similar figure to yours (Vanessa Paradis springs to mind as a slim petite) then have a look on Google Images for photos of them dressed up. You might get some tips as to what would suit you too.
