I cheat and use hot rollers

hair up is difficult without looking like a bridesmaid

low elegant chignon a la j-lo is a better bet than a stiff prommy 'up-do'

Babylis curler thingies are the way forward. Straighteners can look a bit curling ribbon or too wavy IMO

up-dos, try a messy bun. Buy a nice hairband and then loosely scrape the rest back in to a loose bun. Secure with hairbands and leave tendrils hanging down. Doesn't require much panache and looks very 'now'. curl tendrils with straighteners.

thanks very much.. had seen some cute little hairbands, but did not know if i was a bit old for that sort of thing

also, they have some curling tongs in matalan at the mo, i might try those

thanks all x
