Post-pregnancy skin moan - any recommendations?

Any recommendations for difficult skin after pregnancy?? It's driving me mad. Had gorgeous skin (if a bit dry) while pregnant. Not a spot to be seen, very smooth. Three months after DS arrived my skin turned into the grease pit from hell, with little break-outs on my forehead and chin. Salicylic acid cleansing pads help somewhat but make it feel tight after I use them... only to turn disgustingly oily again in an hour! Plus fine lines around eyes and forehead... I feel like the world's oldest teenager!!! AAAAHHHHHH!!!!!
Had a free consult at Kiehl's a few days ago, charming girl there recommended the opposite of what I'd have thought (the anti-acne line). She suggested mild wash, alcohol-free toner, and anti-aging serum and moisturizer.
(Am in my late 30's... so I suppose that's appropriate... but was still a little at anti-aging...)
I asked her about oil-control and she said balancing was more appropriate as hydrated skin would not need to put out so much oil... I suppose she's the expert... but still... any suggestions for products gratefully received!!!!

Liz Earle cleanse and polish. I also had bad post-pregnancy skin and this sorted it within just 1 week. And I only use it very occasionally now but my skin remains clear.

Bump. Any other advice.... surely we can't be the only ones who had skin issues after having babies... please?

I think my skin issues are more to do with age than pregnancy!

What you've been told about going easy on your skin and not nuking it with strong products sounds good to me. I like Clarins products (and try to stock up when they've got one of their freebie offers) but do buy less expensive brands if I'm feeling skint. I've always liked the theory that if your skin isn't tip-top you should wear make-up, as it forces you to do a thorough cleanse, tone and moisturise every day!
