I suppose it's just much softer on the skin. Some people don't like the feel of lambswool on their skin - too itchy.

Wizzska · 07/11/2008 16:55

Can't see it either.

janeite · 07/11/2008 17:01

It's lovely and soft and warm. I only have one cashmere jumper (M&S so can be handwashed) and I love it - much, much nicer than lambswool or merino, or acrylic mixes. I need more cashmere!

monkeymonkeymonkey · 07/11/2008 17:03

Cashmere washes really well, and dries quickly too.

Zahrah · 07/11/2008 17:04

Just bought another two jumpers last night, I think I am a cashmere addict.

Aitch · 07/11/2008 17:05

i much prefer merino. cashmere gets up my nose.

snowleopard · 07/11/2008 17:08

I only have one thing, a green jumper. I do love it, it's light and not thick, but very soft and warm, not at all itchy. It does bobble like a bastard though, and for that reason I tend to wear it for being cosy at home rather than as fancy outfit wear.

brimfull · 07/11/2008 17:12

hmm I do like merino better than lambswool and loathe the squeeky acrylic jumpers you see everywhere..just can't bring myself to spend the money on cashmere

Whilst High street cashmere does feel softer and more luxurious than wool and its become more accessible at that price, its really nothing compared to cashmere costing £££, that's in a different league really, that is the stuff of dreams and made from finer hairs and is even softer and the styling is better and the ply thicker etc. It is a case of what you pay for.

francagoestohollywood · 07/11/2008 17:16

Ohhh cashmere is soft and with some beautiful shades. I don't buy cashmere jumpers often, 1 every 5 yrs, during the sales. If well kept it lasts ages.

samsonara · 07/11/2008 17:23

I have got lots of supermarket and high street cashmere, but also one Ballantyne which has been a better investment. That was in the days before they made this sort of thing errm lovely..

brimfull · 07/11/2008 17:29

this is what I want tis only £526

OP posts:
francagoestohollywood · 07/11/2008 17:32

that's a bargain

KatieDD · 07/11/2008 18:56

Dear god, am speechless.

Guadalupe · 07/11/2008 19:01

I had a black cashmere vneck and it kept its shape and was lovely for about five years. Eventually it got a bit short but I think that was because it got caught up in laundry and was washed too hot a couple of times.

Ronaldinhio · 07/11/2008 19:29

ggirl i actually love that jumper

love it love it

desperately want it now argghhhh

higgle · 08/11/2008 16:17

I've got about 30 vintage jumpers bought on ebay - some with incredible patterns and intarsia work - cost between £5 and £30 ( for one with the tag still on it 38 s 11p!) I shall wear them for a while and sell them on - free cashmere! The vintage stuff is much better quality one very plain grey turtle neck which is probably late 50's is like being cuddled by a baby rabbit - heaven.

squeaver · 08/11/2008 16:21

I wash my cashmere jumpers in the machine using PErsil silk and wool liquid. Dry them flat. never had any probs. Moths are a bigger prob ime.

Yes it is worth it, btw.

Miyazaki · 08/11/2008 17:04

Higgle I am green with envy. Can't bring myself to do the relevant smiley.

My dc have one cashmere cardigan each and they get worn and worn. I justified it by it literally being the baby's only cardigan and elder dd only has one other.

Cashmere is soft and light and warm AND looks really good. M&S/Uniqlo/Brora SALE and handknitted kids ones from pride and joy are lovely.

naomi83 · 10/11/2008 18:17

have three cashmere jumpers-my fave things, so yummy and soft! but as for paying the price- my fave grey belted cowl neck one was tesco sale last winter cost 25 pounds, and two were from primark also last winter 20 pounds each, 1 black round neck and 1 blue and purple stripe

Ruby2shoes · 10/11/2008 20:49

They are so soft and warm and a neat trick to keep them bobble free is to lie them flat and shave them gently with a disposable razor!! DP nearly had a fit the first time he walked in and found me shaving my jumper !!!
