You have to be really patient and WAIT between layers.

i used to 'sweep' the white sideways across the nail rather than trying to brush the 'proper way' iyswim.
or you can buy stencil type things that protect the rest of the nail from the white

mmmmchocolate · 12/03/2005 21:38

i am sure in superdrug you can buy little kits and they have these sticker things you stick on your nail to get the perfect white tip x

karenanne · 13/03/2005 08:05

i always find using the pink and white too overdone on my nails so i just apply the white tips and then a coat of clear.i use a nail buffer once a week tho so my nails are anice pink colour anyway.
i know you can now buy a tip pen now which is a pen with white varnish in so its easier to do.they can be pricey but know you can get them for about £15 on ebay.

a little tip is to colour diagonaly from right side of free edge(bit of nail that grows past finger) to middle and then from left side to middle then to colour straight across. you can leave out the middle piece if you like the look tis called african or american manicure like that(cant remember which

biglips · 14/03/2005 20:11

i find the white tip varnish leaves brush marks on my finger tips, am i applying too much or wha?

maybe you're not applying enuff or is the varnish too thick? also let the first coat dry a little first before applying another. leave to dry alittle again before adding top coat.

Use a white French pen to avoid brush strokes. Selection Boots or Asda

If you want a crisp white tip then do - base, colour, (I like natural better than pink) white tip, top coat.
If you want a more subtle look do base, white tip, colour, top coat

You do need a lot of time to do it properly, waiting between the layers.
If you don't have time - use gel polish - it sets rock hard immediately after curing. A good cheat is to use Leighton Denny's Starkers polish - gives the illusion without the stress Grin
