which kind of jumper should I wear? I've tried some on which look awful on post pregnancy tummy. What looks good?

I'm a size 14, 36f and 5 foot 6.

Well if it stops at your tummy belly button area it will emphasise the area so something longer (there are lot's of jumper dresses or cardigans that are mid thigh length are about this season), or something that ends to top of the thigh area I think likely to be good on you.

LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 17:26

Loose? Or will I just look bigger? There aren't many shops where I live so it's difficult to try.

Yes you are right about loose. Go for a close fit as knitwear naturally sags with wash and wear anyway. It is difficult without trying on but you can try various online places e.g. to get you started at the moment Debenhams has 20% of selected knitwear debenhams Peacocks has inexpensive long cardigans and jumper dresses peacocks

PeaMcLean · 04/11/2008 18:21

Personally I think the chunkier knits are more forgiving than the thinner, cashmere types.

LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 18:26

What do you think about a polo neck?

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 18:29

And what do you reckon to this?

minko · 04/11/2008 18:30

I think the theory goes that polo neck and large norks is a no-no, sorry!

LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 18:31

minko - hmm.... bahh.

What about those swing cardigans? I have one but I think it actually makes me look bigger. What do you think?

merino wool v neck, mid hip with skirt. or tunic with leggings / skinny jeans if you have nice legs.

samsonara · 04/11/2008 18:47

there is another current thread on polo necks here, you can see my thoughts on it. I think the batwing would need to be tried on as some are quite fitted in the body and some aren't, this one from M and S looks slimmer fitting batwing . I agree that chunkier knits are more forgiving as thin ones cling more, but again you have to try it and like it on you.

LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 19:17

So would this be out?

OP posts:
LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 19:21

I've seen those ones in Matalan too and they are v nice. I might try one on in a bigger size tomorrow.

I used to wear v-necks but also come down with coughs all the time so wanted a bit of a cover up.

It is weird being a totally different shape post child. I have no idea what suits.

Ronaldinhio · 04/11/2008 19:36

have you seen those big chunky knitted bat wing sleeveless cardigan things?

they are very flattering as bring the eye to a v whilst covering up

samsonara · 04/11/2008 19:43

That one is nice. As you are post baby, have a transitional wardrobe one that are comfortable in and and suitable for needs now. There will always be fashion , but this baby stage, post baby belly etc won't be , so don't worry too much about what suits and go with what you feel good in. Also polos will cover up your neck area and protect from the cold weather and then when it's warmer you'll have a lovely skin to expose.

LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 20:00

this is nice but I don't think it would suit my shape. Is that what you meant Ronald? (sorry couldn't resist)

Have you looked on the topshop website? They've got some lovely jumpers and cardis which are all machine washable... All my hand wash only jumpers are currently living at the bottom of our laundry basket...

LaTrucha · 04/11/2008 20:44

So more this

than

this

??

ALthough I personally prefer the shape of the second.

(stumbles blindly down new fashion alleys ..)

I was in topshop today and saw the first one, it's quite clingy round the tummy so I'd avoid it. Personally I think the second one is nice and would be lovely with jeans and boots.

LaTrucha · 05/11/2008 21:01

Oo Thanks.
