Can I wear a polo-neck??

Pre-dc I never wore them as I was a size 14-16 and a 36DD

But since dc I am a size 10-12 and a 36C

Can I get away with wearing one. I like them and they would be great for work. But don't want to look matronly and all bosom-y

Yes, don't see why not.

If you are short then I would say not. You need to try one on in the presence of a good friend with a decent bra underneath and get an honest opinion I think.

JackieNo · 04/11/2008 13:02

Agree with onepieceoflollipop - decent bra, blunt friend, give it a try.

notnowbernard · 04/11/2008 13:04

I am 5'5 - 5'6 (approx)

Agree a decent bra a must and will get a mate on board

Or post a picture on here (minus your head if want to stay anonymous) and we will advise.

I am a 36C and they give me a mono-tit, v-neck far more flattering imo.

Polo's are for the bee-stung only (again imo).

Kathyis6incheshigh · 04/11/2008 13:08

The matronly thing - it will depend what you wear it with too. If you're wearing it with things that are quite tailored, or snugly fitting, or shortish skirts, the overall effect would not be matronly as much as if you wore it with a long full skirt for instance.

notnowbernard · 04/11/2008 13:11

Explain mono-tit please!

For work I would prob wear with slightly-flared cords or dark, smart jeans. Don't do skirts generally (denim, maybe)

I wear v-neck most of the time, hangover from big-tit days? Am bored and want to wear different things

Mono-tit, when fabric of top is pulled across the cleavage giving appearance of just one long tit, hence 'mono-tit'.

Agree with others try it and see if it works but mono-titage combined with fabric up to your ears is not a good look.

notnowbernard · 04/11/2008 14:06

Er... I think I may have a touch of mono-titage most of the time? But not in polo-neck form...

Oh dear. Maybe this is a style never for me

Mono-tit (starting to sound silly now) is ok if it is sliced up by a V.

A polo may be ok if you wear a v-necked top of a cardi over the top.

Or you may look fantastic in one anyway and I am talking out of my arse.

Boobs look better flaunted (tastefully) imo, than wrapped up.

notnowbernard · 04/11/2008 14:17

Thanks for advice

Mono-tit vision will be considered in all future purchases

If you want to wear one don't be put off, its a combination of the right bra underneath and even going one or even two sizes up if its a tight knit skinny rib. They look great under many things in the winter months e.g. as mentioned with a v neck top over it, or a slash neck or scoop neck. There are lots around which have a pleat in the neck area and so the jersey material isn't stretched but hangs normally e.g. in Matalan I've seen lovely jewel coloured jade and berry red ones.

notnowbernard · 04/11/2008 14:40

I am not brave enough for a skinny-rib, in any design

Would go for a looser one if I do opt for one

Will try on under a wrap cardi as well
