Recommendations please for a heavy duty body scrub

That's it really. Would like to hear all recommendations - cheap or expensive. I prefer a tube rather than a glass jar as I find that's easier to deal with in the shower. Mainly for backs of thighs, knees and elbows.

The Clarins one is good (it has bamboo in)

I also apply it using those exfoliating gloves which i think really help

I like REN salt exfoliation but it is in a jar. £19 from Space NK.

i mix sugar (granulated) with olive oil in a bowl. voila. better than any of the scrubs i've tried - i find a lot of the shop-bought ones a bit weedy - and far cheaper!

what katie said but with coarse sea salt and a couple of drops of lavender oil (or any other oil you like the smell of). As recommended by my beauty therapist. If you really want to pay for one though, the Body Shop bergamot and something scrub is good and smells delicious. It is basically the same as my home made one though.

Some of the Body Shop ones are quite hardcore, although they come in a tub. Boots do a melon and sugar one (I think ) that's quite cheap and very coarse, but alos in a tub.

I do what others have suggested for really tough areas, though - I mix almond oil with sugar or salt and a few drops of essential oil (citrus ones are really nice).

Brown sugar mixed with olive oil.

And for extra coarse mix a little maldon salt in it.

You should be careful to not over exfoliate though, it can actually cause dry skin.

used coffee grounds are amazing. skin is incredibly soft. but you do need a good shower after and then to clean the shower so i don't do it often. it is incredible though.

The Sanctuary salt one is fab, smells delish, but comes in a glass jar.

I like the Body Shop Mango one, but you don't get much for £10

If money were no object, I'd always have a tub of the Bliss Hot Salt Scrub in the bathroom-in fact it's on my Christmas list

I have this it is heavenly and it doesn't irritate my eczema

i use those exfoliating mits with my usual soap, is cheap and pretty heavy duty.

I really like the Liz Earle one which really works but is gentle on the skin too, also it comes in a tube!

I second the Clarins one. I've used the bodyshop and clinique ones and they don't do the job half as well.

What's the name of the Clarins one please? It looked as if there were a few on their website.

these are great

kikidee - it's the one with bamboo in it. It has very fine particles and isn't at all scratchy like some. When you wash it off, it leaves your skin lovely and smooth.

Exfoliating mitts all the way - less mess, because you just use them with your usual shower gel/soap or whatever. And they don't run out. Body shop sell them, or I saw them for about £1.50 in Tesco the other day.

Clinique sparkle skin is really nice, zingy...I use it on my face.

Seriously - try the coffee grounds - it knocks the socks off everything else - even if it is messy. It's the skin you dream of.
