It consists of:

Chanel matt lumiere foundation
Touche eclat
Clinique gentle light powder
That Origins blusher that comes in the tiny silver tube
Two eyeliner pencils: 1 dark grey, 1 dark navy
3 eyeshadows: 1 dark matt sagey green, 1 pearly mid brown taupe, 1 very dark grey
1 mascara
2 lipglosses (1 pinkish, 1 brownish)

and that's it. I've thrown everything else out, the whole farking lot and it feels good oh fellow mothers, it feels reeeeeeeelllllly reeeeeellllllly good.

Oh c'mon, c'mon, c'mon. Take a good hard look at every item of your makeup and ask yourself honestly if you really like it. And if you don't - chuck it in the bin! Feels so good.

Post here what you've chucked
(and, if you dare, what new makeup you want to buy)

I'm not binning anything. tsk

SmugColditz · 01/11/2008 20:47

NO!

What if you need a mid electric blue mascara? Or a 6 year old pot of "Cherry Kisses" lip glass? Or 4 different blunt black kohl pencils? Or 2 entire palettes of eyeshadow in shades that don't suit you but might suit your son if he grows up to be a transvestite?

I still have not entirely adjusted to being the only girl in my house. I painted the kids' faces last night and was entirely too fussy about how need and blended it was and how the black tiger stripes changed the whole shape of their faces. Poor lads.

JackieNo · 01/11/2008 20:47

I do have periodic clear outs (am probably overdue one), and it really does feel good. I'm a bit liable to buy something and then not use it very much. Then some things I'll use to death. Ditto shower gels/shampoos/conditioners.

Miyazaki · 01/11/2008 20:48

I don't buy a lot tbh and it's all pretty carefully considered - as well as being bloody expensive, so I daren't chuck anything in case I never get to buy make up again.

Glad you had fun though!

Miyazaki · 01/11/2008 20:49

Body lotion - I'm always getting rid of body lotion. I hate it and then I forget that I hate it, and buy it again.

eekamoose · 01/11/2008 20:56

Jackie???

Oh no no no no no!

Can always use up an unloved shower gel or shampoo or somesuch because no-one is ever going to actually SEE me in that iykwim?

Whereas Colditz's blue mascara can go straight in the bin cos I'm never going to wear that again, well maybe in an ironic oldsters disco kind of way perhaps the kind of thing you have for your 40th or 50th or at the PTA mums and dads night but then again ...

would still chuck it out cos by now its full of worms and bacteria, isn't it?

Please tell me more about the Origins blusher. Is it the one called Pinch Your Cheeks? Is it good? What colour? How do you use it? Does it make you doll-faced like Benetint, or is it easier to use than that?

Bet you weren't expecting the Spanish Inquisition.

But NOBODY expects that!!

JackieNo · 01/11/2008 21:14

eekamoose, but don't you buy something in a fit of enthusiasm, then decide you don't like the smell/it doesn't do what it said on the tin/whatever? I'm a bit fickle like that - I'm an adman's dream. Always hoping they hype will be true.

honestfriend · 01/11/2008 21:25

That's not minimalist surely? 2 eye pencils?

Ruby&Mille eye shadow- one matte beige one silvery beige
One Clinique eye pencil/shadow liner

Bourjois blusher

honestfriend · 01/11/2008 21:32

That IS minimalist!

peonyflower · 01/11/2008 21:39

Oooh so a trip to buy make up looks justified?
any tips on a really good mascara? Need volume and curl that still looks like you are wearing it an hour after application!!

eekamoose · 01/11/2008 21:47

Lol peony!

You must be blessed with wonderful skin, ie skin that does not need flaws covered up and a little bit of extra colour on the cheeks.
(therefore no foundation, concealer, blusher or powder).

Am v of you.

Janeite: the Origins blusher. Well, I don't often wear blusher cos I'm a bit of a ruddy cheeked wench naturally. But when I do get dolled up and a little bit of foundation and poweder has gone on, then a little dab of Origins "pinch your cheeks" stuff or whatever its called is very natural looking. It blends in easily. I'd say its more of a crimsony shade (ie. reddish blue) rather than scarlet (reddish orange), so probably suits blue eyed dark haired types better than those with more orange/brown/ ginger type colouring. HTH.

peonyflower · 01/11/2008 22:00

I do rely on my blusher and feel a bit bare without it tbh.
Feel I should be wearing more now though?
Do you all wear powder?

BibiThree · 01/11/2008 22:03

My make up bag holds:
No7 Intelligent colour foundation
Max Factor brown volumising mascara
Make Up (Tesco) cream blusher
Rimmel brown eye pencil
No7 goldy/brown eye shadow
vaseline for lips

janeite · 01/11/2008 22:05

Thanks Eekamouse. May go and have a play instore; I love Origins but haven't tried their makeup at all.

honestfriend · 01/11/2008 22:50

mascara- love Lancome Hypnose- doesn't curl but you get great volume with no clumping and it does seem t o last.

Ronaldinhio · 01/11/2008 22:58

laura mercier eye shadow pallette
mac eyeliner in grey black navy and darkest green

brimfull · 01/11/2008 23:08

I tried to have a clear out a while ago ad failed miserably.

I have an ancient christian dior eyeliner pencil that is so old it clearly is past it's sell by dat but sp fab I can't part with it.

I have about 4-5 differnt foundations/tinted moisturisers to suit all occassions and moods
