I am so excited about wearing it and think I look lovely in it, but my mum said I shouldn't wear black. But it's only the evening do so I'm thinking it's fine!

It's this dress here but in black (obv!!) With my gorgeous black satin shoes, clutch bag and diamante jewellery.

What do you think?

It's lovely.. and you could wear black if you wanted, but don't, the colour is really nice.

Louandben · 24/10/2008 22:26

its gorgeous, I think black is fine these days, particularly for a winter wedding - unless couple getting married are ultra traditional?

Tillyscoutsmum · 24/10/2008 22:27

Lovely dress (assuming you've got great legs )... Black is absolutely fine for weddings imho

MerlinsBeard · 24/10/2008 22:30

oooh its nice

why not black? someone else asked me that this week too (if they could wear black to the wedding)

Tillyscoutsmum · 24/10/2008 22:32

MoM - I keep "bumping" into you on threads with wedding in the title. I think we may be obsessed

I think in the olden days, black, white and green were big no no's at weddings. Not sure why though. I'm off to google

MerlinsBeard · 24/10/2008 22:35

Tilly! Wonder why?!

Lilyloo · 24/10/2008 22:38

Think pretty much anything goes (bar wedding dress) at evening do!! Although when i suggested white on here a pregnant while ago that was a no no but black fine imo!!

wingandprayer · 24/10/2008 22:44

Utterly fab. So fab will be hunting it down locally tomorrow.

MsHighwater · 24/10/2008 22:49

The only reason I can think of that black might be considered unsuitable for a wedding would be that it might look funereal. I don't think this dress looks funereal (unless you are an Anna Nicole Smith clone).

S1ur · 24/10/2008 22:51

yep, looks perfectly appropriate to me.

laurenslovelymummy · 24/10/2008 23:03

I certainly look nothing like anna nicole smith

Just done my fake tan for my legs so they are looking lovely tomorrow Didn't know green used to be a no no, thats a strange one!

beautiful dress
no prob with black, imo, very smart to wear black these day s. but it think a touch of colour somewhere - shoes, pashmina, whatever - would make it more weddingy and less cocktaily.

witcheseve · 24/10/2008 23:17

Love it. That dress will take you anywhere.
