Open pores, red patches, whiteheads etc - its really really getting me down....

Dr Hauschka? (sp?) I tried the little trial pack box before my wedding, and even forked out for some of the stuff that worked best (tip: ebay!) but you have to be religious about it. I sort of let it slide, and I couldn't afford it now if I wanted to. But I had the best skin ever, even better than second trimester glow!

I had pretty ropey skin for years until a friend told me that it's best to undercleanse than over cleanse. i started to cleanse once a day in the evenings and just splash with warm water in the morning. Skin loads calmer, less zits and redness.

Also same friend got her skin analysed properly with a camera (!) and she had ultra dry skin, so dry that the dead cells were blocking her pores and causing spots. Once she's simplified and reduced her skin care routine, her skin was a million times better.

Drinking water - so dull, so effective!

Very interesting replies - thank you all....I've found that my blackheads are worse since I've left off the foundation but am still using the Estee Lauder foaming cleanser in the am...mm..time to book a skin analysis I think. I've drunk a lot of water today but am pissed off as can't stop going to the loo which is a pita with a toddler at my ankles!!

I'm terrible for not cleansing or moisturising at night though - maybe I should be doing it then and not in am? Funnily enough, my skin is lovely when I've just woken up, its only a few hours later that the pore are bleugh and red patches...

Good job this isn't a dating site...I'd have the men vomming wouldn't I!

I have recommended Sensifluid by Aderma cleanser on MN before, and had positive feedback that it really does make a big difference to skin. I adore it and my family are all converts too. I believe you can order it online in the UK.

Anna8888 · 22/10/2008 13:38

Hmm - if you don't cleanse properly before going to bed you don't deserve much sympathy IMO . Proper cleansing and moisturising before bed is essential for healthy skin.

PussinJimmyWhoooos · 22/10/2008 13:40

Anna I know...I know...I'm usually too knackered after a day with DS so tend to do it all in the am....so, maybe I should wash with the E.lauder cleanser in the evenining, moisturise and then do water splash on face in am???

If you are really knackered, use a foaming cleanser wash off cleanser in the evening (takes 1 minute). You don't need to spend ££££ on Estée Lauder. Money is better spent on moisturiser than cleanser.

BUT YOU MUST CLEANSE AT NIGHT .

Have been following this thread with interest... (lurking, I guess is the right word?)

Ordered a tube of dermalogica cream which is one of the few that I am not allergic to. Was talking on phone to my solicitor, came back, and DD had put the entire tube on her belly button which she refers to as 'boobie'

PussinJimmyWhoooos · 22/10/2008 13:44

I've already spent ££££ at E.Lauder! so...I will switch and see what happens. Have the E.lauder day wear cream too but I guess it will be fine for the night as well as it is moisturising....

Dog - at your DD but hey - us girls love our potions don't we!

maybe leave off the day stuff after cleansing. It might block pores? You're young enough not to need moisteriser!

Anna8888 · 22/10/2008 13:48

Oh well, if you've invested the money, use the product properly then . It really won't work if it just sits on your bathroom shelf every evening - you do actually have to put it on your face yourself

PussinJimmyWhoooos · 22/10/2008 13:50

Anna - you are one strict woman I will have a go and report back...assuming anyone is interested!! lol

NeedMoreCoffe - I'm getting dire warnings from my mother that its never to early to moisturise and that prevention is better than cure...

I'm 40 and haven't started yet (please don't tell me I look like old hag!) but I do drink lots of water - the wee-ing thing calms down as you get used to it!
