Just talking about actually fitting and not falling down rather than Trinny and Susannah style flattering

Can't seem to find previous threads but she has 12-18mth ones that fit around the waist, 18mth-2yrs from Adams are only slightly too big around waist but too short now. She is sooooo skinny

Please help! Is she destined to wear dresses and tights all winter? (Bought a belt but it doesn't fit most of the trousers properly)

bump am watching with interest, my dd 16 months is also v narrow of waist

claireyBOOOO · 08/10/2008 19:20

I just got dd some adjustable waist ones from Tesco-they are pulled right in but they fit, hooray! All summer she was wearing age 6-9 and 9-12 month trousers as shorts/cropped trousers because that was all that fitted around the waist.

peanutbutterkid · 08/10/2008 19:21

Next, especially if she's already toilet trained.

ScareyBitchFeast · 08/10/2008 19:22

adams and george slim, but agree, now you can get adjustable waists problem is sovled

CarGirl · 08/10/2008 19:22

I even find that adjustable waists don't help that much because they are just so baggy around the bum. Next are quite slim fit but you still need adjustable waists.

bozza · 08/10/2008 19:23

Definitely need adjustable waist. They seem to be making trousers wider these days. Problem is though that adjustable waists pulled in too tight can be uncomfy - especially if denim.

ScareyBitchFeast · 08/10/2008 19:24

what about dungarees

or even braces

ScareyBitchFeast · 08/10/2008 19:24

even elasticated waist?

Smithagain · 08/10/2008 19:25

DD1 is very slim. I always found Adams and Mothercare hopeless, although some Adams now have adjustable waists which helps.

Next and Gap (in the sale ) generally fit her off the peg.

But most of her clothes come from french catalogues - esp Vertbaudet - or Pumpkin Patch. They seem to cater for skinny kids and/or have adjustable waists.

Dungarees and pinafore dresses are also good, but then my kids have always liked things that are not tight round the waist.

LadyOfWaffleIsScaryEnough · 08/10/2008 19:27

Look inside the trousers, I have just discovered most have an adjustable elastic bit inside [dim] I got 2 perfect fitting pairs from tesco! But those were a 18-24m for a 2.6, but aren't short (& he is very tall)

UmMwahahahaaaaa · 08/10/2008 19:57

Thanks all! Yes, I only recently discovered the adjustable waist... but they still aren't skinny enough!

LOVE her in dungarees but not so good for the beginning stages of potty training .

Good idea French catalogues - and elasticated waist trousers extremely good idea
Love these Boden eek but expensive... still at least could try and send back (have feeling Boden trousers may be v exp on ebay...)

Right, off to find elasticated waist trousers on ebay. Thanks ScareyBitchFeast (who are you normally?)!

I have found leggings with lycra to be the best thing. Good at absorbing wee too

expatinscotland · 08/10/2008 20:13

arrgggh! the story of dd1's life.

tall, thin child.

gap the only ones i've found that fit her well.

even with adjustable waist, some still don't fit her because she's skinny all over - bum and legs like giraffe, too.

it's cold up here, so cords and jeans a must in winter.

luckywinner · 08/10/2008 20:13

I bought both my ds and dd lots of stuff from american apparel

I bought the tracksuit bottoms. They are nice because the bottom of them is bootleg style and look v nice. They are also brill for potty training. And not too horrendously expensive.

CarGirl · 08/10/2008 20:16

I saved dd2's trousers for dd4 (dd3 much more chunky) to my horror I have discovered that dd4 is actually even skinnier than dd2.

I have horrendous problems getting stuff to fit giraffe like dd2 so I'm dreading that it's going to be worse with dd4. TBH it's because they have no hips or bum.

nigglewiggle · 08/10/2008 20:16

Okaidi (also French I think) tend to be slim-fitting and have adjustable waist.

expatinscotland · 08/10/2008 20:19

Yes, CG! DD1 is like that - straight up and down.

She's 5 but about 4ft., 2in. and it's mostly in her legs, so the trousers that are for children with that length tend to be for a chunkier child, too.

The shoes! Oh god! A c-width.

I despair!
