Report back, dexter73!

dexter73 · 07/10/2008 17:38

Will let you know! I'm going to the pub tonight so should have very baggy eyes tomorrow morning!

bran · 07/10/2008 20:13

That's so noble and self-sacrificing of you dexter, to force yourself to go out drinking and pretending to have fun just so that you can do a product test for us.

Ooh Bran, it was me that recommended Akamuti (I was put onto it by someone else on here). I must get some of that body butter. By the way, I used to be called catnip and you gave me your old Citilite. DS is getting a bit big for it now, but we really loved it so thanks again.

bran · 08/10/2008 10:05

Hi catnip, I had vaguely wondered where you'd gone, I like your new name. You got good use out of the Citilite then, wasn't it about 18 months ago that I gave it to you? (Actually, I'm hopeless with time, I only remember that it was spring so it could have been 6 months ago.) How is your gorgeous boy?

I definitely recommend the body butter, honestly it's amazingly much better than the Body Shop body butter (which is the only other one I've tried). It is very hard but it melts at body temperature so I rub it onto my palms and it goes liquid in a couple of seconds and then it's easy to massage onto my skin. I think the Body Shop butter is treated to make it more creamy because that's what people expect, but it does seem to make it less moisturising.

They also sell unscented pure shea butter on Akamuti I might buy that with some essential oils and make up my own scented body butter. I'm not sure how easy that would be but I'm hoping I could just soften the shea butter by heating gently and stir in the oil.

Well I have tried the roll-on but tbh can't notice any difference! It does feel very nice going on as the roller ball is metal so it feels cold. My bags weren't too horrific this morning as I only had 2 drinks!

Jazzicatz · 08/10/2008 11:36

Pile cream is the best thing to use!

DomesticBlobess · 08/10/2008 12:28

Bran - thanks for detail about the eye oil. I use the Akamuti orange cleanser and love it - in summer and winter. Not tried Liz Earle cos v happy with the one I use and think it is more natural, one of the only products I just replace again and again when it runs out.

Also have used the Rose Replenshing Oil in the day and the Rose replenshing cream at night - both really good. Use the toners aswell - love the orange blossom one - smells gorgeous, currently using the frankinsense one which is nice on my skin, but doesn't smell as nice.

Used to use the african black soap - nice as shower gel but found it was horrible as a shampoo. Pure nuff stuff do excellent shower gels.

Wasn't keen on the Akamuti hand cream (almond and rose butter cream, or something) as very greasy. If you or anyone can recommend a good, natural based hand cream I'd be very grateful!

Also like to use oil as a body moisturiser and their Watermelon oil is good with a zesty smell. Currently using coconut oil (from the food part of health food shop) tempted to try the body butter on your recommendation.

DomesticBlobess · 08/10/2008 12:32

Just add that I find the Akamuti orange cleanser removes even a heavy duty layer of slap with no problem. Free advertisng over.

Hallo, yes we did and it was last year, DS will be two in January . I really love that buggy, it is so light and compact, I'm just about to pass it on to a friend with a younger baby.

That body butter sounds gorgeous, am v tempted to place an order. Do you really find the orange cleanser un-thorough? That's a shame. I have pretty oily skin and it really works on me. The Sanctuary do a hot cloth cleanser which I quite like too, but Akamuti has suited me the best of the ones I've tried recently. These people do lovely things too - I've only tried their bath oils but they are delicious.

childrenofthecornsilk · 08/10/2008 17:13

This is great - have used it elemis

bran · 08/10/2008 18:44

They grow so quickly don't they. I'm glad to hear it's going on to another home, they're pretty sturdy pushchairs. I always found the handlebar just a trifle too low for me though so it wasn't the most comfortable to push, but so fab for slinging in the car.

It's not that the cleanser isn't thorough, it's a very good cleanser and my skin looks good with using it, it's just that I prefer the texture of the Liz Earle one. The orange cleanser leaves a residue, which is fine in the winter when I'm not sweating or putting on sun-block. The Liz Earle one rinses away completely and so leaves my skin a bit more matte. I suppose my skin just feels cleaner with the Liz Earle, which doesn't necessarily mean that it is cleaner. I really notice the difference when I rinse my hands after applying the cleanser, the Liz Earle rinses away with just warm water and a quick rub but the orange cleanser either needs a really good scrub or some soap to get it off.

DomesticBlobess I can't recommend any natural handcream as I always use Vaseline intensive care hand and nail. I tried loads of different ones about 10 years ago and the Vaseline came out top and I haven't bothered trying anything else since. It soaks in very quickly.

Oh dear Enid. Wasn't your hair falling out too the other day?(How is that btw?) I empathised with that cos so's mine, and now this. We are twins of decrepitude

Perhaps a paper bag will do us the trick?? I'm using this atm but I fear the lure of the paper bag is too strong for me.

singingtree · 09/10/2008 07:06

Oh, I see what you mean. Perhaps use the akamuti one only in the evening? I find if I do that I only need to use a bit of toner in the morning

bran · 09/10/2008 18:37

Curse Thank you DomesticBlobess for introducing me to Pure Nuff Stuff. I've ordered some shower gel and some shampoo and conditioner to try, and some eczema cream to try on DS.

Twelvelegs · 09/10/2008 18:39

No, but I know a great clinic in bangkok that will do a lift for £1000.... results are amazing!

DomesticBlobess · 13/10/2008 13:32

Curse you too Bran - just added some body butter to my order from Akamuti despite cupboard full of coconut oil.

Bran - love to know how you find the pure nuff stuff shampoo and conditioner - I've tried it but really found it hard work to get my hair clean - washing and rinsing twice but still greasy afterwards and the conditioner didn't really do much. That said, I use them now on my childrens hair and it works well enough on them.
