If you wear close-fitting jumpers, what (if anything) do you wear underneath??

I keep seeing people wearing tightish v-neck jumpers which look like cashmere/ wool etc, and wonder what they wear underneath?

If it's just a strappy top or camisole etc, doesn't that mean you'll be washing your jumper after every wear (and don't they soon then shrink/ bobble etc?)

But surely anything else is too bulky?

if your jumper is pure wool / merino / cashmere you really don't need to wash after each wear... hang up to "breathe" and will be fine (unless you are sweaty and smelly before you put it on.....)

I save mine till it is relaly cold and wear shortsleeved vests underneath

but pure wool does air well

NB most of the ones you see people in are acrylic

I don't consider myself a sweaty or smelly person, and I shower every morning, but if I wore a top all day I feel I'd want to wash it afterwards? Don't normal body smells cling to clothes?

I've taken to wearing a thermal vest from debenhams. It works pretty well except it rides up a bit and gives me a cold tummy - not sure it was designed for those large of nork.

hey cf, divine stuff in jigsaw atm. got an orange tunic....

I get little short sleeved vests/camisole tops from M&S - usually around £5 or so. You can either have them showing or not, depending on how low cut the jumper and how high cut the vest top iykwim.

hi hc! am sure orange looks divine on you.... but would make me look like a giant pumpkin with jaundice..... were there any less, err, orange colours?

let me guess more. is it kneelength? long sleeves?

MrsB I like the second one. The type I am referring to are more like a strappy vest top (that one could wear in the Summer as an alternative to a t-shirt)

Yours are more practical for the Winter.

anything will do, the key thing is they keep your jumper away from your armpits!

you know the style cf . mine is actually sleeveless (for layering dontcha know), but they had a v good long sleeved grey one.

ah now i wore my long henley lambswool yest adn got hot in the sun and yes now need to wash it

Right - have been and bought 3 of aforementioned M&S tops! Time to fin all my wool jumpers methinks...

I just HATE washing jumpers, and it shortens their life so much, but I agree, if you 'glow' at all in them throughout the day, then they must be washed.....

I would never wash a jumper after one wear unless I had been very hot and sweaty all day long. Wool doesn't smell like other man made fabrics, unless you get really pongy! Depends if they are clinging to your underarms and you don't use deodorant!
Having said that, I usually wear a short sleeved vest (M&S) under jumpers in t he winter.
