So.. what is the winter equivalent to the ballet pump?

I love my ballet pumps/shoes, but they are not exactly made for rainy winters... so what is the nice winter alternative? Loafers make me look like my mum...

back when I used to wear ballet pumps, my cold weather equivalent was mid-calf flat soled boots made from very soft leather that folded over at the top, like elf boots. Of course, with such a thin leather sole, they werent of much use in the wet, but you could start thinking along those lines...
