I've been to Boots and possessed myself of age-defying foundation, concealer, mascara and eyeshadow.
Now help me guys. I need a makeover. I have put a couple of pics on my profile so you can see just how badly.
I am 44 years old and my skincare routine consists of washing my face with Clean and Clear in the shower. I read the magazines, I know this is not good. I did buy some moisturiser a couple of months ago but I haven't opened it yet.
My haircare routine consists of a twice-yearly twin and monthly application of Nice and Easy Light Natural Auburn or similar.
I am no longer sure this suits me and do not really recall what colour I used to be before I went prematurely grey started to dye it.
Would any kind souls out there like to look at my profile and give me some hair/skincare/style advice?
I thank you most kindly.

Thanks Avacado - will check out the powder and the Barbara Daly stuff. What else is good from Barbara Daly? I noticed we now have quite a big selection of her stuff at our Tesco (there used to only be a tiny section).
I am looking like a grown up this morning: foundation, concealer, mascara, eyeshadow (grey) AND lippie.
And I straightened my hair!
How do you groomed ladies find the time for all this in the morning? I will have to start getting up earlier!
Next step is a hairdressers appointment. I was thinking bob-length, but not a bob IYSWIM (maybe sort of layers?) and a sort of caramel colour.
Is that a good plan?
Hold my hand here people, I am HOPELESS!

I had given up wearing mascara apart from on infrequent nights out as fed up of wondering if it had smudged/wandered off. Could also never (despite brand/expense) get it on without clumping & blackening of fingernails. Barbara D has a "Smudge-proof" one - it survived me going swimming & under the shower cos I'd forgotten I was wearing it. Brill & cheap and easy to apply, quite finknottle-proof.

I don't bother with foundation every day - am still slightly tanned from the summer. Just conceal worst of blemishes & powder (translucent) lightly with big brush.

Agree that the red corrective stuff can be trickier, I only use it for nights out, for day you do need quicker solutions.
Bob-like suits me, imo needs to be def above or below shoulder not undecided in-between. Mine is shorter atm & I can still clip it back just behind the ears when I want it out of the way.
I only need 5 mins in the morning, once you suss a look, it's easier.
Am hopeless with hair colour, have never had mine done. When you make the appt you could say it's a makeover so you'd like someone v experienced. Can't hurt to ask.

Have now thrown away stacks of expensive make-up which I had hardly ever worn, v glad I tried the Tesco BD range. Never thought I'd wear eyeshadow on a daily basis. Mind you, never thought I'd be over 40

How are you getting on, LadyG?
I timed myself yesterday as in a rush and the concealer/eyeshadow/liner/brush with powder/mascara/lipstick was 2 mins. Pretty good.
Pretty bad: bank holiday here today and in gardening/painting clothes, wore nothing but a bit of eyeliner and did look like Gussie Finknottle, i.e. like something piscine on a slab...

bumping and doffing cap fer 'er leddyship

I have been wearing make-up every single day, Finknottle old bean. It is beginning to take less time. And I have got the hang of not sticking my eyelashes together with mascara which is good.

On the product acquisition front, I went to Tesco this morning and did attempt to buy eyeliner, but I couldn't concentrate on choosing what with the lady restocking the shelves and nowhere to put my trolley. And I bought some BD facial wash for aged skin to replace the Johnson's Clean and Clear. . It is the plethora of choice which does my head in, I come over all funny and wander off without buying anything at all.

Haven't done a thing with my hair yet.
It looks grim.

Oh plethoras do my head in too. And I'm usually so overcome with joy & relief at being in an English supermarket that I can barely concentrate, am stuffing my face with Quavers overwhelmed at the choice on offer.

Hair is my next challenge, am discovering more grey every day. When do I stop yanking them out & start colouring before baldness sets in?
