how do i stop my hair flicking out at the bottom?

it was long, and have had it cut to shoulder length. it would be great if it didnt keep flicking outwards !

what is the best thing to do ??

Hair that sits on the shoulder often flicks out and even if you manage to straighten it so it does not, you know that shortly the flick will re-emerge!

When it gets 1 inch past that stage the flicks should stop (did for me) but then with my current style if I do get the flick it actually looks ok.

If hairdresser does an under he uses a big barrel metal brush (the heat of the hairdryer warms it up and helps blowdrying IIRC) and it seems to work.

I just can't be arsed with the faff so look like Pippi Longstocking

sometimes the cut is done in such a way as to encourage it to flick out - is it layered at all? I think if its layered this encourages it to do so.

hair is chin length though so looks worse

if i blow dry it straight it lasts a millisecond

You can have my hair if you like. It is poker straight at all times, no matter what I do to it. I look a bit like Neil from the Young Ones

Mine does it to. In a chin length bob.
I blowdry it under then straighten it. Lasts for an hour.
