mamazee · 18/09/2008 22:47

Dragonbutter · 18/09/2008 22:49

i've recieve my first ever 'Grout' magazine for mosaicing types. I feel very uncool.

mamazee · 18/09/2008 22:52

grout mag...brilliant..i love specialist magazines i am just too lazy to have hobbies (other than mag reading and mn obviously

Dragonbutter · 18/09/2008 22:55

my first Grout arrived and i find that DS1 is in it! he's in a picture taken of a gallery private viewing stuck in a backpack so he doesn't touch anything.

LetThemEatCake · 18/09/2008 22:56

ha ha, celebrity, hardly.
Famous in my local 'hood for being arsey when I get served a bad coffee, that's about it.

I read Vogue& Vanity Fair.

sometimes Marie Claire, sometimes Easy Living.

do the weekend paper supplements count. Love Observer Food Monthly - and the female one

OP posts:
mamazee · 18/09/2008 22:59

ooh i love the observer freebies...better than loads of other mags. i even read the sport one
cannot get rid of my vogue habit although this month i am wondering how many times one magazine can put kate moss on the front cover in a decade

LetThemEatCake · 18/09/2008 23:02

Mamazee - have you got the current one? did you read the detox diet piece?

was so considering doing it until I read that that stupid bint spalshed out (or got the mag to spalsh out)

650 smackers!!!

for 10 days of juice and crudites!!!

Oh my god. And only lost 2 kg.

Silly cow, Can starve myself for free, thanks.

Rawfoodfairies, as if

LetThemEatCake · 18/09/2008 23:02

cornsilk · 18/09/2008 23:04

None any more. Marie Claire used to be good but it's guff now.

mamazee · 18/09/2008 23:10

i did a fab juice detox called something like 4 days to vitality...amazing...i felt great afterwards...highly recommend it.
i haven't actually got my vogue out the wrapper yet as my 17 month old is teething so lots of snuggling going on in this house that ain't compatible with mags.
my lovely dp just bought me the latest id but i may have4 to finally give in to the fact that my funky clubbing brixton days are over and stop getting it bless him though...had a crap day yesterday
also juno is top of list cos of my mama status..oh how things have changed

MrsSprat · 18/09/2008 23:10

I suffer from a bit of gold-fish memory syndrome with mag purchases, which I must try to kick into touch:

I get The Economist sent on a cheapo subscription - but it usually gets stockpiled unless there's a feature that catches my eye
InStyle - invariably ends up making me cross/short-changed and wishing I'd bought...
Glamour - which I then buy...
...when I should have just bought Red - which I usually like, but can't quite get with the brand
Heat or similar gets bought for long car trips/long-weekends - and tends to wind me up big time

DH occasionally buys me Psychologies (why would that be? )
He also buys Viz, Private Eye and very occasionally Men's Health (fnar)

mamazee · 18/09/2008 23:12

oh and i did have a very weird affair with star and national enquirer which was BIZARRE

JudgeNutmeg · 18/09/2008 23:13

I get Mens Health. Lush.

LetThemEatCake · 18/09/2008 23:14

mamazee - brixton?

are you in se london?

me too!

OP posts:
mamazee · 18/09/2008 23:14

i was..now in somerset
i ran away and procreated !

moondog · 18/09/2008 23:15

When She was relaunched about 2 years ago it was great, but now is pretty lowbrow.
Red is OK but again, every 'true life' story written in exactly same style. So unchallenging. They are frivolously enjoyable though.

IO remember years ago when Marie Claire was brilliant (and when darling Nigel Slater wrote for them.)

martha stewart living ? wow does she have a mag too ?
how popular is oprahs mag over there cali ?

moondog · 18/09/2008 23:19

Martha is my guilty secret. I quite often consider fashioning a lampshade from 3 metres of eau de nil grosgrain ribbon and some duck feathers.

LetThemEatCake · 18/09/2008 23:20

I can't bear that oprah mag but a friend (whose opinions i actualy really respect) loves it.

I don't get it - WHY??

OP posts:
mamazee · 18/09/2008 23:26

LTEC self help bible ? searching for more meaning ? you too can change your life ? feel good factor...i DO have control over my life/addictions/weight/infertility/meth head husband ?!
by the way LTEC do you enjoy writing for celeb mags ? or more serious stuff.
my friends DP works for heat and seems to love it

LetThemEatCake · 18/09/2008 23:32

I like both at different times and for different reasons.

I don't do the mean celeb stuff - used to, and hate it. I do more profile pieces. Liek charting a career or whatever, or looking at the evolution of thier style

not "oh isn't she fat now"

horrible.

Tonight am working on a piece for an inflight mag.

so a mixed bag really.

also do a bit for sheerluxe.com which you should all register for (free)
Discounts galore and all about online shopping - right up our street, right?

mamazee · 18/09/2008 23:45
