Think I am a typical 'apple' shape. 5'9" tall, fairly long, slimish (for my size) legs, large waist big bust. I have lost 2st, trying to loose more and doing OK. Having a real problem with jeans. Size 18 at the moment are baggy on hips and legs but OK on waist. I tend to go for below the waist fit, ones I have at the moment are Boden bootleg - got them in the sale ages ago and have only just got into them. They are looking too big on me. I got a size 16 in the sale (Boden) and they don't go round my waist but fit great everywhere else. I HATE shopping for jeans. Anyone know any makes that might suit my figure? Am I right to be getting ones below the waist? Have never ever suited high waist things, even when young and slim, have always had a boyish figure but with norks

i have nevere found the Perfect Apple Jean to be perfectly honest

hudson are the best i've found

but are a bit too big on the thigh - i have very slim thighs

(that's not showing off btw, i wish they were bigger - would avoid the barrel-on-matchsticks look)

I take it you have been to River Island

they fit me like a glove

Levi did always fit me but we are talking over 20 years ago. Then they introduced the 'womens fit' making them smaller on the waist. There ended my love affair with them although they do so many styles now maybe I need to look again. Just find it soul destroying. Still overweight and hate that whole sweating in the changing room with mirrors up my arse scenario . Love shopping for other people though.

women's fit levis are appalling
Make women's arses look like pears
Buy mens

OK CD I am on the River Island website. I am looking at bootleg/kickflare. None of them mention being skinny bootleg. Not going to order on line but just wanted to have a look before I take the plunge and go in.

Do you recommend stretch or not?

If you get a chance try Banana Republic. Martin fit for slacks and Classic for jeans. Haven't been to the UK shop yet (want to be slimmer) so not sure how prices compare to US. Classic boot-cut on line are $78. Would guess they would be that in £ in UK

bumping as I'm in need of jeans
cheap preferably
I had some hula ones but when last in new look they had gone really thin and my gap ones are on their last legs

Wags · 22/09/2008 13:54

Went to River Island and tried heaps of different pairs on. They fitted OK but were too low rise for me or maybe I am just still too fat . Felt like my belly was hanging over the top of them (there's a nice image). I still found a bit that the 18 which was fine round the waist, was roomy on the thighs and the 16 which was OK on thighs was too tight on the waist. Also went to Gap, nothing looked that great and was loosing the will to live by then so gave up. Maybe I just need to loose more weight then try again.

I am wearing some uniqlo ones today but they keep failing down

hoxtonchick · 22/09/2008 16:02

my uniqlo skinnies are a bit prone to falling down too. i tend to tumble dry them, wear a belt & a long top .
