River island interview - what to wear?

What would you wear to an interview in River Island?

I have one on Wednesday so plenty of time to get something new.
I am 5ft10, size 12ish, red hair. I'm 22.
I have spend tghe last 8 month looking after my son so i am totallly out of touch!

lol yeh, i was thinking RI, but i didnt know if that would be trying to hard. I didnt know like if i should mix high street with a little designer, or a little vintage. Or if i should stick to this seasons range.

I think high waisted was last season it was in the summer sail anyway - but my hips are WAY too big for that anyway lol! Thank you

Shirt and pencil skirt, they won't care what you're wearing unless you look really bad.

Is it to work in the shop? You need to look River Islandish, so you need to look like you'll look good in their clothes. I would definitely have one piece from RI, and something from somewhere else.

You need to look like one of their better dressed customers basically.

Yeh it is in the shop. I was thinking maybe RI black skinny jeans with a white shirt and rock ankle boots. some kind of scarf maybe.. with a big bag. BUT thats what i generally wear everyday.. ahh i dunno lol!
I'll go have a nosey in the shop tomorrow!

i would not clone a river island look but look as tho you would/could/do/can wear their clothes

i am quite impressed by the staff in the local store here and they are all different ages shapes and sizes which i think gives a good vibe

and they play really good music

if i wasnt pushing the age limit i would work there

(and they let me have most weekends off lol)

Think that sounds like a great plan.

Definitely go in the shop, hang about, get to know what they are selling this season, know their stock etc. This will make a huge difference. Black jeans perfect, you don't need to draw attention to them being from RI, but a good touch.

zippi, i agree totally! In the store here the staff are always well presented, and all ages. I like how there are boys and girls too, and they are really helpful!

I used to recruit for a well known fashion brand and trust me, they don't care how you look providing you look smart and can fit in the clothes they sell.

It's a retail job, they don't want people who are fashion crazy, in fact it can be off putting. Look smart, put together etc absolutely but you don't need to go over the top.

They want normal people, it's a high street store, they want staff to be accessible.

it looks to me that staff there wear what they like

not terribly corporate

in next which is a very boring shop they wear very dreary clothes, but then that is their image they sell dreary clothes too to people who mainly have to dress in a uniform way for work

I think you need to demonstrate you are fashion aware but do that with words, not your outfit. The last thing you want to do is come across as too cool/intimidate your interviewer by looking too trendy.

But if she wears her jeans, white shirt thing, which she wears every day, do you think she'll be okay Ewe?

ah right, well i am, but i am pretty sure the manager isn't. I think she is the manager anyway, but she is over a size 18 i am sure.

Maybe she was under when she started! They do like you to be able to wear the clothes they sell.
