LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2008 22:35

from topshop your best bets are selfridges, liberty and carnaby st. In terms of not too much distance btwn them

brimfull · 28/08/2008 22:36

ltec-ah now that's useful,save my feet

haven't been to carnaby st sine early 70's fgs

is it good

from topshop go down regent street and visit banana republic, then cos opposite. go further down, hennes then uniqlo. then head left and you should end up somewhere near carnary street where you will find american apparel.

oxford street is dreadful, you can have much more fun in neal st and long acre. there is a top shop in strand too but not so much stock.

ranting · 28/08/2008 22:37

Yes liberty, my dd would be in heaven if I took her to liberty fabric dept.

brimfull · 28/08/2008 22:38

what shops do you normally like

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2008 22:39

hit and miss, like anywhere really. Great new arcade just off C st (can't remember name sorry) with fab vintage store called Marshmallow Mountain - heaven.

Even if you don't buy anything in Liberty, at least have afternoon tea there. My mum and I do every time she comes to London, it's so lovely. In the tearoom on the ground floor.

ranting · 28/08/2008 22:40

Yes but it's a really lovely place to look, the windows are really lovely.

brimfull · 28/08/2008 22:41

I like JL myself lolol

anything really not designer stuff-we're not loaded

fishie · 28/08/2008 22:43

liberty beauty hall is a must-see and i have missed it off. ggirl i may not have them in quite the right order.

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2008 22:44

also a great vintage store on Gt Marlborough St (down from Liberty towards berwick St) called Retromania or something similar. Def has Retro in the title. Down a flight of stairs, have never not found something amazing there and a comparatively teeny price

brimfull · 28/08/2008 22:44

fishie-you'll have us walking around in circles!

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2008 22:45

Liberty for a brose if for nothing other than inspiration. Really, have afternoon tea there, £16 a head from memory but lush lush lush

LetThemEatCake · 28/08/2008 22:45

browse. sorry.

onceinalifetime · 28/08/2008 22:55

Urban Outfitters on Oxford Street - next block down from Top Shop going towards Tottenham Court Road and Bershka opposite for your dd. Regent Street has improved massively - try Desigual as well as those already mentioned - Banana Republic, COS, etc.

Lots of interesting shops around Carnaby Street, Marshall Street, Foubert's Place - see pics here:
