So I can't afford / don't like the idea of Botox, what is a good/cheap substitute?

Details: 40ish, laughter lines are turning into permament creases, I need to wear foundation (still problems with spots, would you believe), now foundation is sinking into the cracks!

is there any product out there that genuinely works like botox, that is a tried and tested alternative?

Seriously, frownies work but you have to wear them every night.

restylane is apparently good and more natural, not sure on cost comparison though.

I'll second Frownies. There is something else, it's a cream called Freeze 24/7 or something like that. It was around 65, 5 years ago. Frownies is much cheaper, probably around 20.

Yes frownies work for me. I have froen lines between my eyes, if I wear a frownie to bed and remove it in the morning I can not beleive the difference - it's amazing. However, thee effects wear off as the day goes on, partic if you have a tiring/stressful day.

Great boost for special ocassions though. And have more long term effects if you wear every night (I don't)

Perhaps you need a different formulation of foundation that won't settle into the 'cracks'. There are soo many types out there, I bet theres one that will work.

what on earth are frownies?

I have Frownies and they do help, but i keep on forgetting to put them on. Have had to answer the door in the morning with one stuck to my forehead on more than one occassion .

Have no idea of the efficacy of Frownies, but the following from the website certainly deepened my wrinkles: "Toxicity and Thoughts are the bottom line of all diseases. Germs do not cause disease. Germs are there all the time in all of us. If you body is healthy it will not be diseased. Your job is to create an environment within your body where disease cannot exists." WTF?

I have botox, but its only suitable for thin forehead lines, frown lines and crows feet.

If you have lines that are deeper or further down your face (e.g. the ones that run from your nose to mouth either side) then a filler like restylane or teosyal is better.

However I much prefer the idea of botox to fillers. Botox has been used for much longer and is used in the NHS for some patients, so I feel safer having it. Fillers have a lot of bad press, Im top scared to try them anyway

I have had botox (three lots) for frown lines but it didn't work. At all. Eyessentials cream works for a few hours....

I could have written meglet's post! I can't be bothered forget to put the Frownies on too. And have answered door with them on too!
