Autumn

The approaching end of the summer holidays always makes me start to get excited about Autumn, my favourite season. SO - what clothes does anybody plan to wear/buy come Autumn?

I'm currently drooling over some lovely, 50s style dresses in Gap and various things in shocking pink (quite fancy a shocking pink pashmina). Also looking forward to digging out my riding-style boots, for wearing with full skirts in a vaguely Russian way!

I had to get up for work in the dark this morning which was a bit depressing at the time but now you've cheered me up by reminding me that I can start thinking about autumn clothes.
No idea what I'm going to wear yet but am looking forward to dragging out all my cardis again, and boots with skirts is sounding good!!

What time was that then? Dp keeps looking out of the window in the evenings and saying "Don't the nights draw in" like some kind of ancient Yorkshireman with pipe in hand.

Ah cardigans - need to go shopping for some new ones. Any recs? I really fancy a short-sih, fitted one (ie sits on or just below the waist) in a raspberry colour.

Also liking this as a possible top for work.

Does nobody want to talk Autumn clothes with us?

I do like the Betty Jackson stuff actually- but I can't really look at clothes- am pg!

So- if I'm pg- would this look silly or stylish over a bump?

After pg, would it look ok on a large-norked, very short type?

Tbh I think that would make somebody short and busty look shorter and bustier. I am short and busty and it would look awful on me.

And I already have a gorgeous collection of bags and shoes, many unused at present (feet didn't go all the way back down after last pg , bags- don't want to ruin with being over-stuffed with DD's things)

I love autumn and winter clothes - I love love love warm tights, knee-high boots and knee-length skirts and woolly hats. I have those, but I dream of a new long, heavyweight cardi to wear on top (my old one is going threadbare at the bum). Very thick and warm, dark grey, green or purple, with a proper hood and extra-long sleeves. If anyone knows where I can get that... saw something close in Urban Outfitters, but it was £175!

I've also bought some vintage fabric, tiny orange squares, which I plan to make into a kind of 60s knee-length shift dress thing for autumn (to wear with tights and boots of course).

Mmmm - honestly? Again, I just think it wouldn't be great on boobs; could look a bit matronly?

Then again, I am really not a style-icon at all, so feel free to ignore me!

Now you see, I am HOPELESS with bags and shoes. In fact I hate shoes and would rather be bare foot than have to go shoe shopping.

But I have teeeeny feet- and shoes always look lovely in very small sizes, whatever the style IME.
Not that I'm a shoeaholic, like some people.
I do prefer bags- doesn't matter how much weight you put on, or lose then

Not read any JP but strangely enough, somebody else recommended him to me the other day. Will have a look next time I'm at the library. Went to H library yesterday and got "Arthur And George". I've not started it yet as I'm toiling on with a stupid Beryl Bainbridge at the moment.

SnowLeopard - I am very impressed at you making your own dress. And liking the whole warm tights and purple cardi combo!

I had a feeling you'd already read it for some reason. is there a particular JF I should look out for? Do they need to be read in order?

And - back to clothes - is a shocking pink pashmina not the way forward?

I think hot pink would look fab in grey weather, yes!

EachPEachPearMum I'm pg too, but 36+6 so looking forward to wearing "real" clothes" again soon - don't know how soon that will be though. I finished work last week and my leaving pressie was a not insubstantial amount of Monsoon vouchers, so I have inspiration to spend them before they expire!

Wrap and Poetry have the same parent company (which used to also include "Selective"). Have bought a few thinsg from Wrap, but tops are flimsy and the leg seams on the trousers unravelled after a few wears. Poetry seems a bit "old" for me, but my mum likes their stuff in sales. Maybe I am just mutton dressed as lamb?
