Are these red patent shoes OTT for work?

I've just been end-of-maternity-leave shopping, and bought them, but am now thinking I should swap for the black. I'd be wearing them with plain black or grey trousers and tops - trying to inject a little colour.

I had a pair similar to this when I worked in an office and apart from the od Wizard of Oz comment they were very popular.

I love them! I couldn't wear them as I don't do heels but would definitely wear a flat version with a suit. Don't swap for the black!

Suedonim, I have just bought those M&S shoes to inject a bit of colour into my going out wardrobe! They definitely impressed DH on first wearing.

But am of that pair, Apuski. Think I might have a look for a similar pair for work...

god, great shoes
yes of course wear them unless you are a nun

Gorgeous! Fab with black or grey.

I love that advert where the women wants to buy the red shoes from the posh shop, but the woman won't 'wait on her', until she pulls off her hat and shows red hair.

I think even those red stilletoes wouldn't be out of place at work. Not if toned down with a smart pair of trousers and a smart top. Prob not red.

I don't think stiletoes 'need' to look out of place at the office.

I very rarely wear high shoes. But I do have the confidence to carry them off. I wore some over the knee high boots and my male coleagues went wild. Because it is not the norm for me.

I love red shoes. They are lovely.

MamaG · 20/08/2008 09:17

I just put my red stilettoes on, discovered they are actually patent too! I'd forgotten that. (I have a shoe drawer at work with about 6 pairs of shoes in) but as I'm 30 weeks pregnant I didn't dare try to walk about in them.

I just did it for the glamour

I went to M&S this week to try on their red shoes (I'm going through a shoe thing at the moment, oops) and the Nottingham store is completely USELESS! Their sale of crappy, picked-over summer stuff is still ongoing and they have precious little of interest in the shoe department.

I have these from New Look which are the most comfortable high heeled shoes I have worn for years - the strap stops that sliding forward that is so tiring on the ball of the foot.

I'd like these but they don't come in red and my whole wardrobe for the winter is based on red (to match my new highlights!) Can I justify another pair of black heels?

Bumperlicious · 23/08/2008 08:10

Sorry to hijack but fuck me who would spend £270 on a pair of ballet pumps? What, were they hand stitched by fairies?

Grublin · 23/08/2008 08:23

But they are now a bargain at £189 Bumper

Bumperlicious · 23/08/2008 08:42

Great, now I can buy the pumps and an LBD!

Grublin · 23/08/2008 08:43

Rofl

I used to walk passed a girl on my way to work everyday who always wore black (but expensive black, well cut trousers, cahsmere top kind of thing) and coloured shoes and accesories. She always looked fab.
