Oh, i can't do vests.
Not just the bingo wings, but a tee shirt suntan in my case.

you'd be better off in a cotton blouse to be cooler. Vests are basically knitted fabric next to your skin. And they look crap.

I got a surprisingly nice one from Hawkeshead of all places.

nickytwotimes · 27/07/2008 21:00

even with my tan line?
It's very, um, pronounced.

DisenchantedPlusBump · 27/07/2008 21:00

Surpisingly I got some great ones from Ethel Austins!

They are really soft, wash fantastically and go down past my hips, £3 in sale.

With nice few buttons at top so can show a bit of cleavage if necessary!

SilentTerror · 27/07/2008 21:28

Tesco do great fitting longer length ones.
Also have some Matalan ones that are fine and wash well.
Next,marks,Boden,all shrank.
White ones need replacing every summer.

SilentTerror · 27/07/2008 21:39

Saw a very large older lady last week in spagetti strapped vest. Her skin was wrinkled like old leather, had obv had one too many foreign holiday.Breats needed restraining also.

fishie · 27/07/2008 21:41

depends on person. i have reasonable arms but look utterly vile in a vest, solid body and giant swimmer shoulders. whereas much larger people i have seen today looked really good in theirs.

(i have been to a 1660 war reenactment today so pretty much everyone looked good compared to sweaty woolly people)

this kind of thing (vaguely) acceptable as an alternatrive

fishie · 27/07/2008 21:51

not in french supermarche?

SilentTerror · 27/07/2008 21:51

Both; I prefer plain tbh,but the ribbed ones are a thin rib with low scoop neck and long.
iirc,white,black,turquoise,sea green(ribbed,that one)deep pink,red,navy.
Got a fab one from Topshop a few years ago in a dark grey/smoke colour.

Gobbledigook · 27/07/2008 21:51

I think vests are very flattering - I love em.
