You have them on your fingers to make your nails look neat, long and white - why would you have them on your toes - I look and think - 'God you need to cut your toenails!' But it seems all the rage at the moment and lots of the ladies at the school have them am I completely out of touch or are the not as yucky as I think.

Ohh I love to use all the strong colours I cant use on my crap fingernails on my toenails. I guess the french thing is OK but it does make me think WAG

I wear dark blue a lot, although it was described as "a bit gothic" the other day.

shhhh · 18/07/2008 16:16

why can't you wear them wombat..? Blue is nice, I have a black one which I also love...Gothic... Classy imo

stitch · 18/07/2008 21:40

that s the whole point.
long, equals beautiful groomed. not long and straggly, but long and cared for.
which is why people who have fake nails applied to their hands are completely missing the point. just havinglong claws isnt enough. they have to be long and groomed. ie look like a 'lady'
same with toenails. long and groomed, showing you dont have to run for a bus!

spugs · 18/07/2008 22:37

not bothered either way by french pedis but not something i would go for myself, i feel naked if my toe nails dont have a colour on them. hot hot pink is my particular favourite at the minute

LongLiveGreenElizabeth · 18/07/2008 22:38

So funny how things are perceived really. I still like mine. Don't look chavvy at all to me or WAGish. Just clean and neat and pretty.

So funny though - I had to take DS with me on Thurs when I had mine. He is almost 7. Was desperate for a pedicure himself! So I asked the girl if she would give him a quick foot massage. So she trimmed his nails and gave him the massage with lots of lovely cream. He looked so funny that I was laughing at him. He asked me way and I replied that I didn't even know what a pedicure was at his age. He said "that's because Nana and Grandad didn't have much money". I agreed. So he said "They just concentrated on food and drink". I agreed. "It's lucky you survived" he said sympathetically. My Dad howled with laughter when I told him later!

bossykate · 19/07/2008 09:29

i agree buda - clean, neat, groomed, and pretty! and i have seen tons of middle class mothers with them - so hardly "chavvy" or waggish!

and blech at long toenails what are you talking about?

maidamess · 19/07/2008 09:33

Yes stitch 'long and groomed toenails'

what,like this?

scootermum · 19/07/2008 09:34

There is a Navy blue Chanel nail polish which is supposedly the new rouge noir.It is very nice. But actually from a distance its not that different from rouge noir, if you see what I mean

NomDePlume · 19/07/2008 09:37

long toenails turn me over. They are revolting.

DoubleBluff · 19/07/2008 09:37

Gross.
really dislike french pedis.
very Cheryl Cole.
trimmed nad bright.

Guadalupe · 19/07/2008 09:39

urrrgh at those claws, they are rank!

I think colour looks nicer on feet, there's something about the french one that looks as if they've had to go right under the toenail and that makes me shudder.

nkf · 19/07/2008 09:41

Are those pictures from some sort of fetishist magazine?

nkf · 19/07/2008 09:42

I've just googled the blue satin polish. It does look rather good.

stitch · 19/07/2008 10:14

maida, those are claws.
yuck.

Tatties · 19/07/2008 10:30

I do not like French pedicures and I cannot bear to have long toenails

My toenails are very short and tangerine

I think they look cheap and tacky and very Wag/wag wannabe.

CoolYourJets · 21/07/2008 17:37

Jura - gel on your own nails? Tell me more....

theexmrsfederer · 21/07/2008 19:17

Yuk!!

I just think long toenails, even if they aren't actually "long" are horrible.

I saw a photo of Vicky Beckham with a french pedicure and her toenails were sticking out of her shoes-she looked like she would cut David to ribbons with them in bed.

(if they actually sleep together )

Twinkie1 · 21/07/2008 19:20

He he - can't believe people are still posting about this - I at present have very short square bright pink nails and think they look cool!!

It's nice that some people finally agree with me about something - says a lot after 6 years!
