This dress It's for a daytime to evening wedding. Not a particularly formal do - being held in a garden/marquee. There will be a free bar, decking and it will be a mostly standing event so I'm thinking not strappy, heeled sandals! Would gorgeous flip flops work with the dress? Possibly white or silver. Or any other ideas?

flip flops would be too casual i think

what about wedges - with cork or wood stack heels so you wont sink - you get dark blue to match your dress and would look very lovely

loads in the shops in the sales - try jones or hobbs for bargains at the mo

I had thought about wedges, but wondered whether they might be a bit too clumpy for the dress! But, yes, I will look at wedges - thank you!

i think you can get quite narrow wedges with narrow ish straps across the front

im amazed no one else has popped up with ideas must be too late - have fun shopping!

I think if you're about 20 with very slim legs then a silver, fancy flip flop would look great if it's sunny. Could you have a pair on standby & wear heels till you're feet/legs are tired?

You have no obligation to own up if you are older or have cankles (like me)

Toothyboy · 07/07/2008 23:29

Hmmm, am a leetle older than 20, average legs, but no cankles! I am concerned about becoming stuck in the decking in heels, though!

If it's good decking it shouldn't have big enough spaces to get your heels down unless they are exceptionally thin. Wedge sounds like a good option if they are not too clumpy.

Someone posted earlier & linked to Faith site which had some lovely sale wedges.

I would wear wedges and have a stand by pair of fab flip flops if your feet start flagging later. Nice dress too

DonutMum · 08/07/2008 11:43

Wedges. Dune have a fab pair called Maggie in the sale - £33. www.dune.co.uk/catalogue/style.asp?r=43&g=52&s=58&y=S08LLE20SCW120V

Hope that works. I've just ordered them myself.

Thanks for your replies - I've bought some blue canvas wedges, so am just waiting for the dress to be delivered to check they go!
