An unremovable hat...

...not for me. Does anyone know of a sun hat for a little boy (13 months) that is difficult to remove, or so unobtusive he won't remove it? Going on holiday soon, and can't be doing with a sunstroked baby. We have one with a strap under his chin - straight off. We have bandanas - straight off. Help!!!

I feel your pain - we had the same problem. We just had to keep putting it back on again until he gave up pulling it off. sorry!

Oh bugger. He gets proper hysterical too. And I don't think sellotape is looked too kindly upon

my DD is the same. We lost four last week as she gaily throws them out of her buggy.

I was thinking or resorting to gaffa tape

I used to have this problem with DS, about 2 weeks before our holiday,I used to find his hat and put it on him in the morning whilst we were indoors, and then spent all day replacing it every time he threw it off.

If I happened to see him wearing it I gave him loads of praise (and sometimes a smartie)

But I found all this "practice" he eventually either got tired of throwing it off,or became so used to it on his head he forgot it was there!

It worked for me,even with my DD's,but most girls like to wear hats, but I think they all go through this stage when they think they "have control". It soon passes, the following summer they understand about keeping it on. HTH

Can't help other than to say that I've had this problem with DD for ages. We lost five sunhats last year! And I tried bandanas etc too. This year I got her one with a strap under from GAP that is sewn up at the front so doesn't annoy her too much. She carried on with the chucking it off thing for a while then one hot day playing in a friends garden I said I was going to put it on but knew she'd take it off and...it was still on two hours later! I don't quite know what happened but she wears it now. Only that one but doesn't matter. So he may just surprise you soon but till then good luck!

Staple velcro to his head.
It's the only way.

I agree Califrau, just didn't post it quite so eloquently!

and.... why have this struggle on holiday, why not do the "ground work" before you go,and "win" the battle at home.

Hopefully Plain Sailing when you get there then.....

Ok, perserverence here I come. Not my strong point, but surely I can't be beaten (again) in a battle of wills with someone who can't even walk yet??!!

if its really hot wet the hat! dd1 was the same and now i have dd2 doing it!

when we took dd1 to spain we started wetting her hat in cold water it cooled her down so she kept it on!

lackaDAISYcal · 06/07/2008 23:08

lol micci...my Dd would just take the wet hat off and suck it dry.

DH has suggested double ended hat clips.

won't stop them taking them off but at least the hat won't be lost.

he also suggested i get several so i won't be losing the keys/purse/bag/nappies/ all the time....cheeky beggar
