Ds was born 4 weeks ago and until now I haven't really been bothered how I look, but it has hit me this morning that I look awful! I am a size 18 (usually a 14) and 38FF boobs so I feel v lardy Tummy is a disaster zone. I know its early days and I was this size after dd and I managed to lose all that weight so I am assuming I can do it again. But I need some clothes to see me through this fat stage. I am 24 if that makes a difference. The clothes that I have that fit are two fat face skirts that I was wearing pulled down under my bump, a few black t shirts, some white linen trousers, a navy pair of the same and a pair of M & S jeans that I bought 2 days after the birth (what was I thinking?!!) that are now thankfully baggy at the waist and thighs, so not really an option. Need tops that can be layered over a vest or otherwise easy for breastfeeding. I don't want to spend a fortune as I hope to lose weight before long but I don't want to spend the next few months looking awful (am actually a wee bit vain and don't like knowing I look a state). Any help really appreciated [desperate emoticon]

How about getting some nice flowery tea dresses/blouses from New Look to get you through the next few weeks? Patterns tend to hide the flab...Have a look at Next too.

I got some vest tops, quite cheaply and a couple of nice cardi type things to go over..

Also dresses are great for making you feel better

Cannot beat shoes IMO

I know how you feel. My lo is 11 months and im not quite back into a size 12 but size 14 is a bit big but i dont want to waste anymore money on new clothes until im back to pre preg size. You need to make a capsule wardrobe to tied you over. I have a few pairs of Next linen trousers as their cheap and are comfy for during day. I have a casual pair of jeans from Next which i got for £15 in sale. I have a lovely pair of smart wide leg jeans from Warehouse and a nice pair of wide leg black trousers that i wear for evenings out/smart etc.

When it comes to tops i have a few t-shirt style ones from Next and cheap vests from Asda in a few different colours that go with the linen trousers and casual jeans. I have a few nice French Connection tops that go with Warehouse jeans and black trousers for night times.

Invest in some good underwear/big nickers They will really boost your confidence until you get back to your pre pregnancy body.

Go through your wardrobe and pull out all the things that you like that fit to give you an idea what you need. The key is to buy things that all go together so you can mix and match.

Mamas and Papas have a really good sale at the mo. What about something like this

www.mamasandpapas.co.uk/product-stripe-coverup/s0004085/type-s/

www.mamasandpap as.co.uk/product-pleat-linen-trousers/s0003999/type-s/

The cardigan and vest can still be worn for a while yet eventhough their maternity.

Thanks for all the tips. The problem with dresses is that my already ropey legs have been given a nice new set of stretch mars I have them behind my knees now and I am very very paranoid about them - I can't see myself ever wearing something above the knee again. All the dresses I have seen seem to be just the wrong length.
