suggestions on what to do with hair

i have typical asian girl, long dark hair. i straightened it twice now, and love the ease of it. however, the colour seems to have gotten darker and darker, till it is jet black. my natural colour was more dark brown tinged with red. the problem is that because of the straigteming, (chemical) i cant have itlightend. ie, cant have it stripped of colour, as that will damage the hair completely.
so, do i chop it all off, and ligthen it? or do i straighten it again, and simply hope that by insisting she use a much much lighter colour on the white hari, it slowly lightens
tia

so not get it cut then? and restraighten it ? needs doing because it grows out, like a perm, and i now tend to have it tied back quit e a lot, and the roots need straighteners noww if going out.

can you put in some kind of vegetable rinse ( or even henna) to give it a bit of colour ? or would that not work on straightened hair ?

lush do blocks of henna. the japanese girl in the covent garden store has awesome cherry coloured hair, v shiny. they do the blocks in brown, black, cherryish red, have yet to use mine (you melt it in a bain marie)

i dont know, havent done henna for about two decades now. it makes a huge mess though. could i get it done by someone? so mess was contained? last time i did it, mom was not amused by henna coloured sink
will the reddish colur be picked up by the super blackened hair?

I would think a hairdresser would put a vegetable based dye on for you...I used to henna my hair and it was incredibly messy. Have seen the solid blocks in Lush too.

off to the hairdressers then.
