Major posh wedding to go to in september.
Lasttime I wore a frock was 3 years ago. I wear jeans. and crocs (yes i know don't tell me.)
I am also fat and lardy.
Posh mate is taking me in hand next week and taking me shopping. this freaks me out as i don't do shopping, or fashion, or style.
i really have no idea. i need your help oh wise stylish ones.
as said. i am large - size 18 - 20. I have bingo wings, fat thighs, lard arse and a big tummy.
Also as can be seen from the above description i have no self esteem and don't like the way i look at all.
Help.

oh its not on the site - just spent ages looking for it!

Bundle · 02/07/2008 16:42

that top/tunic thing is shapeless and I would have thought unflattering to larger sizes (well, anyone over a size 8 actually)

much better to have a bit of shape. a waist or cleavage.

TheChicken · 02/07/2008 16:42

i am not either
never wear them
hti sis hte belt for no hopers belters

Bundle · 02/07/2008 16:46

NigellaTheOriginal · 02/07/2008 17:14

Am a bit intrigued by styleshaker thingy.
what's good about it, what's bad?
also if all you style gurus could cast your eye over it and tell me what shape would suit a blob? skirt and top or dress?
am liking the idea you can add sleeves (to cover wings.

I did style shake - the fabric wasn't very nice, quite thin cotton, looked cheap IMO. I went Wasn't lined and (most importantly) the fit was terrible. I know I can send it back but I still don't think it will be something I would wear. I think I expected too much for the price but it's still £100 in the bin.

mine was similar to the grey one here but in burgundy with a v-neck.

SquiffyHock · 02/07/2008 18:05

'it wasn't lined' is what I meant to say!

SandyChick · 02/07/2008 20:02

Why not have a look at Simplybe.co.uk or Marisota etc You could try things on in comfort of your own home and their prices are very reasonable. This top www.marisota.co.uk/productcache/FSP/BO6344/CB043EH.html.gz would look nice with a pair of Cream or Navy wide leg trousers maybe in linen so nice and comfy. You could add a really nice hat and some kind of wrap. I would invest in some really good underwear too. They do these in Simplybe etc too

SandyChick · 02/07/2008 20:59

This website has some beautiful stuff too www.curvety.com/P/MAYA-CHIFFON-DRESS(541).aspx

Wish i had a wedding to go to...i've seen loads of lovely outfits

If you wanted to do pants and tunic instead of dress, I'd recommend Oska stuff.

They make their summer clothes form teh most wonderful quality linen, and do lots of muted, non-scary colours.

They sell in House of Fraser, have a shop in London, and are in lots of little boutiques too.

It's the sort of thing that you could really dress up with some glam chunky jewelllery, and a big straw hat.

for example, amd for an idea of style:

top

jacket

trews
