Imagine you’re trapped on a desert island - how long before you become unrecognisable?

I have short hair. It takes an inordinate amount of daily and weekly care to look the way I want. I could take pre-emptive measures for a planned and non-critical hospital visit, maybe …

But, washed up on a desert island, assuming you’re safe, with shelter, food and water but having had no time to plan - how many hours / days / weeks would it be before you wouldn’t recognise yourself in a mirror?

I really need to start carrying tweezers everywhere with me …

I'm finding all this strangely comforting.

You could pick me up three years later and I'd hardly have changed. I'm a natural shade fan, so first chance I get I'm making myself a hat.

Assuming I could make some kind of comb, I reckon it would be years before I looked much different. I don't do anything other than brush my hair. I occasionally tweezer my eyebrows but not more than once every 6 months.

Edit: the greasy hair would be grim but I can't imagine it would make me unrecognisable. My friend has taken to washing her hair with egg yolk which seems (surprisingly) successful, so maybe I could do that if I had them to spare.

My only difference would be the beard and mustache that would grow, just a random hair at a time. Not fully Tom Hanks Castaway, but for sure a bit Baba Yaga.

Without a brush I will have crazy matted hair too, if I don't finger comb and tie it back.

Haha, funny thread! My highlights growing out would be the only discernible difference

I'd have a decent beard in no time. I was only thinking the other day, in a zombie apocalypse, that I'd be the hairiest woman alive.

I believe in 3-4 months time I would be with proper beard and moustache as I need to vax them every 2 weeks. Would be interesting to see 😁🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Assuming I'm found before my teeth drop out and my skin turns to leather, I think I'd remain recognisable.

Id be a bright red boiled lobster by day 2, but otherwise wouldn't be too hard to identify.

I think a diet of fish and fruit would do wonders for my skin and figure tbh and all the time in the world to sleep/exercise will also. But after 2 weeks my moustache will surpass any beauty benefits!

I’m hoping my main difference would be weight loss 🤣

I might look better. Good fresh diet of fish i imagine, time to exercise, no one interrupting my sleep. I'm sure I could fashion a comb and some sort of natural Moisturiser from some sort of sea animal? Sea snail?

Comb? My hair is so straight my fingers would suffice. Cut is just chin length sort of bob atm. I might need to learn again how to braid my hair, as it is flying everywhere when longer.

I'd change, but I would recognize myself when looking into a pond or a puddle (assuming it rains there 😯).

About a week, I reckon, before I go into ‘Wild woman of Borneo’ mode.
It’s the hair — it’s not long but as my hairdresser says, there’s a LOT of it and it needs a similar amount of taming.
