Sniffing a few samples from my Une Nuit Nomade set. Shades of Blue is really interesting — a sweet lavender that seems to get even sweeter as it dries down. It definitely deserves a full-day wear test at some point

I have so many sample sets and individual samples to get through, so I’m planning to revisit them slowly when I start my no-buy in January. Plenty to explore without buying anything new.

Today I’ll be wearing D’Annam Vietnamese Coffee, though I might add a little Layer + Milky by Skins to see how they work together.

I'm desperate to try Vietnamese coffee. I was pondering the discovery kit but it's a bit more than I wanted to spend on samples.

i hadnt thought about Christmassy scents before. i like the thought of having something that reminds me of Christmas. I have an old bottle Ginger biscuit somewhere so need to see if that smells ok!

Looking forward to hearing what others are wearing approaching the festive season. Im going to go through my collection again and have a look at what i have.

I really liked the amber creme as well and tonka tabac

I am looking forward to getting tonka tabac, how is the staying power?

MotherWol · Yesterday 08:32

Checking in, thanks for the new thread @IDontHateRainbows! My seasonal favourites are Eau Duelle and Commodity Milk, and I’m considering a travel size of one of the Jo Malone - maybe orange bitters or spiced apricot and sandalwood

I only tested that one but it seemed pretty decent

Advententhusiast · Yesterday 08:50

Since I am holidaying in Germany I am going through my samples. Today BDK Tonka extrait. Its ok on me, I prefer it on other people.

We are decorating at the moment so I can only get to my samples jar. SOTD is Memo Madurai, pleasantly surprised by how floral it is. I was expecting something a lot heavier

Doglover73 · Yesterday 13:37

Thanks for the new thread @IDontHateRainbows
Sotd Debaser. Ive heard it mentioned loads and never tried despite having loads. I thought id try seen as I love bibbi swimming pool and read they were similar and I was likely to like it.

I love it 🤩

QueefofSheena · Yesterday 14:28

I prefer Debaser to Swimming Pool. Weirdly, I found the spray less sharp than the roller if that makes sense?

I have cracked and ordered the winter Liberty scent kit with my BD credit

Sampling can be expensive! I spent roughly the price of a full-size perfume on three D'Annam sample sets and two new perfume samples, and the brands don’t even offer vouchers with the sets. That said, I ended up falling in love with three fragrances and genuinely enjoyed taking my time exploring everything.

My son took 10, (basically one set worth) I’ve saved some for a friend, some I used up completely, and I’ve set aside a selection of five tea fragrances that I want to revisit. I also gifted a few to people who bought something from me.

D’Annam has been my favourite brand discovery of the year. It has encouraged me to explore and embrace what I genuinely love smelling, focusing on how a fragrance makes me feel and the mood and energy it brings me, rather than worrying about popularity or what everyone else thinks.

I mean, I bought a perfume that smells like a bamboo forest after the rain. 🌿

I see myself buying more sample sets next year.

I've been wearing a superdrug cheapie body mist, it's pumpkin spice and smells delicious. 😁

Adidas - smooth pace SOTD

demantoid · Yesterday 21:49

SOTM was Sana Jardin Berber Blonde, which is one of my need-to-feel-in-my-power daytime fragrances. I'm still hoping that SJ isn't gone forever...I love virtually everything I've tried, the brand seemed to really align with my own preferences,

...and so SOTE is also SJ, Savage Jasmine.

MiaN · Today 11:07

Ellis Brooklyn Vanilla Rice for me today. I am tempted getting full bottle of this. There are so few vanilla I like

demantoid · Today 12:27

SOTM(and probably SOTD with it's longevity) is Spiky Muse - my first testing of this, although I see people discuss it here all the time.

It's very citrus and pink pepper-forward on me, the berry fruits and rose are bimbling around in the background, but barely there, and the dry down is leaning very green tomato and bay/herbal.

I wanted a more bracing autumn SOTM - so many are cosy, which I love, but some days I want something sharper. Spikier?! This is exactly what I wanted. It's sitting alongside MH Mineir as my new favourite 'fresh' autumn fragrance.

I'm waxing a bit lyrical now, but I'm clearing out the greenhouse for winter atm, and the scent of Spiky Muse is exactly the smell of that...there are late roses everywhere, green tomato stems being pulled up, green herbs being snipped to dry. It's warm and sunny here today, and I'm just quite exhilarated to have a SOTD that reflects the moment so precisely.

I'll see how it develops during the day, but on first spritz, it's fabulous.

Hugest thanks to the brilliant MNer who sent it my way.

MiaN · Today 21:06

I organised my perfumes and samples little today. I have to say I feel ready for no buy, I am but feed up testing and but looking things

IDontHateRainbows · Today 21:50

Sot evening is byredo mumbai noise. Love this oudy, deep, dark fragrance with coffee notes. And I'm usually on the fence with oud.

SOTD was Le Labo Matcha, this is really growing on me and is a good office scent.

SOTE is Fabbrica Della Musa Ile Bourbon from the the Liberty kit. Thank you @IDontHateRainbows for selling those on. I've had my eye on this scent for about a year after smelling in Liberty but didn't want to commit to a big bottle (I came close in store). I was worried it might be too rich and chocolatey on the skin and possibly a bit nauseating. It's not and I love it. I think it's going to be a favourite winter scent. I find it really cozy and love the boozy under note.
