Hi,
As promised, here is the new thread.

All are welcome to chat about Toastie topics, (and any other lovely clothes/related chat).

Thank you for the new thread @IlovePond .

Thank you @ToastCosILoveIt . Great report of your visit. That’s the shorts put to bed. The sticky outness probably not for me, also on close inspection and reading the thing properly I realised they are that dark brown, I thought from the picture with the patch navy top they were navy. I have a brown velvet skirt already. It is very substantial so I can see how the shorts might stick out.

I’ve finally found a use for my brown shell pattern bandana, too. I am wearing it with my oatmeal Donegal jumper. I feel a bit overdressed for someone who has stayed in all day, but never mind!

@OftenOrange - that is a shame. I don't have the long legs (more's the pity) but I am also short waisted. Would you say the twisted seam cords were high waisted? I often find things too high for me and it's not comfortable.

Maybe you could try some of the Dutch brands? Or German or Scandinavian? These are places I wouldn't look because they tend to be for long legs!

OftenOrange · Yesterday 19:33

@faustina They are quite high waisted though not so much as the Annies.
The SA today said a few people have been frustrated by trouser sizing this year as so many are tight on waist and very loose elsewhere.
You’re right about Scandinavian, I used to buy them but find Toast have spoilt me for fabric quality and colours.
I think I shall have a look down Marylebone High St as there are some labels there that look promising …
Meanwhile I love the Amber cord so have ordered the skirt , somewhat enabled by @ScallopShellWalk

ScallopShellWalk · Yesterday 19:56

@OftenOrange this amber cord is very nice. I hope the skirt works for you. Hope to hear how you get on. I wore mine tonight when I went out for my language class. I felt joy just looking at it. 😊😊😊 I thought I should put it on before Halloween and enjoy the colour theme. Very pleased.

I’m deeply attracted to the fabric of that quilt skirt. Interesting about the washing of velvet, I was loosely considering the velvet pull on trousers but dry cleaning doesn’t fit into my life right now, which also involves getting down on the floor a lot so things bag at the butt and knee. Does dry cleaning do the same fabric reset as washing? I’d like to see those velvet shorts on someone with (as my friend once described mine!) strong legs, as it’s hard to think about proportions with such a slim model being a sturdier person! (I hope that’s ok to say, I don’t mean anything negative about the model!)

I wonder if anyone else uses/would like to know about John Lewis’s silk long sleeved ribbed thermals. I have a black and a white one and they’re just so useful for a non thick layer that doesn’t interrupt the fabric of your clothing by catching on upper layers (something that makes me shudder for some reason).

@OftenOrange so interesting to read what the SA said about feedback on trouser sizing and waist bands. Im finding they fit perfectly in my normal size but aren’t comfy at the waist, like they just need 1cm extra elastic to relax them. Sizing up becomes a drowning. (Strange to put on older toast clothes and be easily two sizes smaller heh).
