I'm having my haircut tomorrow for the first time in almost a year. I want a drastic change, help me decide what to do!

My mum cut all my hair off when I was 9. I grew it back as soon as I could (when she left and dad saw sense!), but have always been too scared to have anything done to it since. It's been in the same, grow it, cut a bit, few layers and feathering, style since then. Time for a change!

I almost always have it scraped back into a ponytail or bun and I'm not big on fuss in the mornings so it needs to be maintenance-free!

Will put a recent photo on my profile.

ooh you want a fringe imo

PuppyMonkey · 01/07/2008 14:56

A bob (with a fringe, yes) might look good. dead easy to look after, but you need to get it trimmed quite often.

NoNickname · 01/07/2008 14:57

Go for a graduated bob with a fringe.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/07/2008 14:58

A fringe? I already get asked for ID, won't that make me look even younger?!

On the photos bit of my profile there are 2, one of how it looks when it's just been cut and styled (ie. not very often!), the other a more recent one of me on a night out, showing how it usually ends up looking!

A bob definitely. I spent about four years scraping my hair back into a pony. It's very ageing, you know.

I'm not sure about a fringe though. Too high maintenance with children.

What about a bob that is long at the front. You know, so that is graduates from short at the back to long at the front? Very chic. What do you think?

And pepper some highlights through it too if you can.

short choppy

or

And there's no point in having long hair if it's always put back into a pony, I reckon.

Hope you find a fantastic cut. I've got jaw length hair now and I feel it's so much more manageable and stylish (for me anyway!).

PuppyMonkey · 01/07/2008 15:02

PMSL at fringes being high maintenance, Winky! What can you mean???

WinkyWinkola · 01/07/2008 15:03

Don't you always have to get them cut more regularly? Which means trips to the hairdressers? I find it hard enough to book in every three months or so with the DCs.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/07/2008 15:03

That's where I've got to with thinking about it now winky, no point me keeping it long if all I ever do is tie it back. Time for a chnage. I'm not 9 anymore and no one is goingto tease me for having short hair!

PMSL? Was it that funny? Blimey.

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/07/2008 15:05

I can do high-maintenance in terms of cutting, I can go into town on my lunch-break for a trim, it's just that it needs to fit with my 'roll-out-of-bed-into-shower-get-dressed-out-door' morning routine

Well yes, I did think it was q. amusing ..

If you have a bob, you have to get it cut at least every eight weeks anyway otherwise it loses its shape. fringe or no fringe!

PillockOfTheCommunity · 01/07/2008 15:07

We used to cry when she brushed our hair. So she cut it all off, quite literally! It was a real boy haircut, I can still remember going to school in my kilt and getting teased for being a boy in a skirt!
