Best sunscreens for sensitive skin?

Keep getting a sort of prickly heat reaction - think it's probably related to fact that most sunscreens are waterproof in some form, so skin can't breathe as well. Anyhow, should I buy one of those tan preparation lotions like this one from Gatineau and what actual sunscreen brands would you recommend? And should I avoid products with parabens?

Help!

Jurlique do a very very light one. Costs a FORTUNE, but is made from very natural ingredients. Shiseido is also very light and non greasy, but probably more chemicaly because they don't boast about being made from only bits of tree like Jurlique. Dr Haushka surprisingly greasy and horrible.

Try one of the natural ones, like Green People or JASON. Or the Body Shop do a mineral sunblock.

Lavera do a spray one which is nice. And ds & I have sensitive skin, but haven't had a problem with Clarins (tho bit ££).

My sis is allergic to loads of stuff but can use pizbuin suncream

Willow, I think that using a lot of waterproof sunscreen is probably a bad idea if your skin is sensitive. Water loss across the skin is a pretty important part of how your body works. I would also avoid parabens if you can, but I wouldn't panic too much about them. I have written an article about choosing a sunscreens for children you might find interesting. colinsbeautypages.co.uk/choosing-a-sunscreen-for-children/

Try the Liz Earle non-chemical one - it's meant to be good for people who react to normal sunscreens

I tried the one for the face - it comes out a little bit white but it gave good protection (friend who were snorting with laughter when I got out my sunscreen when we went camping ended up being burnt to a crisp while I stayed pale and interesting )

Liz Earle don't use chemical sunscreens which is good. I think the whitening appearance on the skin is unavoidable with physical sunscreens.

Willow, your prickly heat might be a reaction to the sun rather than your suncream. I get it too (it's increased with age) and I long to find a solution, but no luck so far. Mine is worse if I don't wear suncream, which makes me think I need to find some super-strong sun protection somehow.

I get prickly heat too, but suncream seems to make it worse.

Was looking at the piz buin as they have a cooling suncream according to a magazine.

I find Ambre Solaire isn't as bad as some. Trouble is it's quite expensive if it turns out to be no good.

Piz Buin seems to get lots of recommendations from a quick recce of the net. Also taking calcium tablets apparently helps - has anyone tried that... or any of those pre-sun sprays?
