Looking for good-quality, long-lasting plain T-shirts

SammyVine90 · 05/10/2026 23:39

Hi all,

I’m looking for some good-quality, premium plain T-shirts for women in a size 16/18, preferably with both short and long-sleeve options.

I used to buy them from Primark and M&S, but I’ve found that the quality isn’t particularly good or long-lasting. For example, after just a couple of washes, the Primark T-shirts start to fade and lose their shape.

I don't mind paying more money if the T-shirts are worth it.

Thank you.

Morrisons supermarket do have nice cotton and cheap for pop ins.
John Lewis.
Plus Superdry are exceptionally soft and wash really lovely if you just get the plain t shirts with no massive writing etc - just go in a store and feel them 👍

COS "Clean-cut t-shirt"
Lasts wash after wash. Never loses shape. 100% Cotton. Made in Portugal.

I also love LESET, "The Margo," which are made in Los Angeles, but I am not sure if they are available in the UK. They are superb. Last forever, never loses shape.

Next heavyweight tshirts, if you search on their website, the ones with Rochelle Humes modelling. Great quality, washes beautifully.

They don't seem to have many options on their website. For example plain t-shirts available in a variety of colours, like Black and White.

Perhaps you need to look again? Clicking to details and scrolling for all the other colours.

Whatever! 🤷‍♀️

Celtic & Co do amazing long sleeved ones. Good quality, quite thick cotton

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 07/10/2026 10:14

Cos do some very thick cotton boxy T-shirts. I practically live in the black ones.

Reddoorbluewindowpinkroof · 07/10/2026 10:30

Me and dd have the set at next. I like the long sleeve tshirts and we both like the ribbed short sleeve tshirts. Bought some this week in the clearance £12 for 5 short sleeve ribbed tshirts.

SleepingisanArt · 07/10/2026 10:37

I buy mine from Ulla Popken. My favourite deep pink t-shirt is 5 years old, still deep pink, still the same size and shape as when I bought it. My white ones are white and not see through! They do long, short, 3/4 length sleeves, round, slash, notch and v- neck. Plain, stripe, graphic print and some with embellishments. I'm a plain colour fan and have everything from black and white through to red and electric blue (pastels and brights).

CortieTat · 07/10/2026 10:54

I second COS clean cut t-shirt, the quality is solid and they are made in Europe. Quite boxy in case this is a concern.

I am addicted to Uniqlo mini t-shirt as my basic piece to go with everything. As the name suggests, it’s quite short especially in smaller sizes.

PoppySeedBagelRedux · 07/10/2026 16:14

Sunspel. They are expensive but such good quality.

DeftGoldHedgehog · 07/10/2026 17:10

I've had some t-shirts from Mountain Warehouse and Decathlon that washed and lasted well. TU (Sainsbury's) and Uniqlo are also good.

They don't have a lot of colours to choose from

The last time I bought these earlier this year the thickness was brilliant, they are very flattering and they wash very well.

Id gone in to look at different t shirts and more expensive ones however these were better by a country mile and such a bargain.

Ruthietuthie · 08/10/2026 22:43

@SammyVine90, here's the link to the LeSet Margo shirts, but I am not sure if they ship to the UK:

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/10/2026 10:57

I think these are the ones I have - three black ones. They're brilliant.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 10/10/2026 11:18

I like some of the brands mentioned above. However, for basic t-shirts, I quite like Nutmeg (Morrisons). Mine all seem to have lasted well so far, and I've had some of them for years.

littleburn · 10/10/2026 11:20

Rapanui are great for t shirts. Different styles to choose from and 100% cotton. They tell you the cotton weight too so you get a sense of the thickness and how it will hang.

RowanRainbow · 11/10/2026 08:13

I have started ordering my t-shirts and long sleeved jerseys from Kettlewell. It does a variety of shapes (boxy, fitted); necklines (v, scope, crew, slash); weights; sleeve length and obviously colours. There are a wide variety of colours from neutrals to brighter tones. You can search by colour and seasonal palette (if you know that). So far everything has washed well and kept it’s colour (they do recommend 30 and lower spin). It’s also a British company. I have also used Community Clothing which manufactures in UK. Again very good quality but not as much choice as Kettlewell.

Do you know their sizing in UK ladies sizing? Like what is a size 16/18?

Sunspel. They are expensive but such good quality.

You must be rich because £90 for a t-shirt is madness!
