Should I invest in flattering clothes while adjusting to my larger size?

I have put on 6 stone in the past 6 years and I have gone from a size 12/14 to 18/20 (22 in some shops). I have been reluctant to ‘waste’ money by spending a lot on larger clothes as I have convinced myself that I will lose the weight, however that is clearly not happening. As such I have very few clothes, and even fewer that I feel good wearing or that flatter. It is impacting my self esteem.

Should I just bite the bullet and splash out on some good quality, fashionable larger clothes?

On a side note I have no idea how to dress my larger body (although to be honest I’ve never been great at styling myself no matter what size). I used to be an hourglass but now I’m more apple (huge tummy, boobs and hips but also big bum) so any advice on that front would also be appreciated!

Thank you

Oh and weight loos comments aren’t the best on style and beauty. I might be a bit bigger than I’d like but that’s not even an option for me.

if I say go to next I picked out 8 dress last time Nobel f them suited or fitted me properly. The time before just 2 (in a style I never normally wear). So it’s very hit and miss but you will find things in stages.

oh and OP try all new clothes on at home, I have had some terrible experiences in changing rooms in the past x

Do you prefer separates or dresses?

This would be an easy to wear dress and what I do if something fits I’d buy in twice in different colours. https://liveunlimitedlondon.com/products/navy-fan-print-jersey-neck-frill-midaxi-dress

or lovely striped tops with trousers. I used to have an old neighbour who was Approx size 24 and she looked absolutely amazing in various striped tops with work trousers or skirts. I’ve tried to look that good in them myself since and i never do

And I have various tunics like this from fatface (once you know your size restock on older designs on vinted). They are my go to day to day wear either over leggings or jeggings at home or if needing to look smarter with tights and a nice jacket when I’m going out.

I'm in this dilemma. Was size 12/14 8 years ago and now 18/20. Clothes are awful. I see other ladies of my weight and they look so much better but I'm reluctant to buy new clothes because I will lose the weight.

Whistles, nobodys child have lovely dresses up to 20.

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie Having been similar to the op, it’s virtually impossible to find nicely FITTING clothes when you have a huge tummy. I looked pregnant! It was awful. All my clothes were ones that accommodated a huge tummy. There’s no way fitted anything fits. You end up buying a baggy shirt and hope no-one notices your shape. You notice though. It took me nearer 10 years to get to size 18-20 and often clothes sizes are way out. Boden definitely. They don’t fit. Certainly not a dress with a waist. The frustration of shopping and upset of nothing fitting is very real.

If it’s wrong to talk about losing weight - too bad really. The op could give jabs a go. She’s got nothing to lose in terms of feeling better and she won’t need new clothes. In 3 months she will be slimmer.
