Ive tried on a coupleof N&T ones but they dont seem to be right.
Can anyone send any links? Don't want to spend loads as Ill be wearing it for about 3 hours before a xmas dinner and bed!!

Thanks

I don’t think the wedding dresses I posted are drab. Who gets married in a sequin party dress? It’s not very chic. Most wedding dresses have lovely lace detail or other detailing that makes them less bling or less like a layered meringue.

My Theresa has some lovely stylish wedding dresses on their web site too. Some are beautifully cut and are very stylish.

Have you looked on ASOS? They have a great bridal selection. Karen Millen also have some lovely formal dresses.

fridgefullofplums · 26/09/2026 15:19

Would you like this shape?

You might find these dresses less party outfits. Not sure if you want that one if your choices is pure bling. These are more traditionally elegant.

They’re really not elegant. They look cheap and unflattering

Bzr · 26/09/2026 15:24

The needle and thread ones are both lovely but the second one is off the scale fabulous.

Bzr · 26/09/2026 15:27

I love the needle and thread ankle length dresses. I think they’re a perfect compromise if you want something special but not full on bridal

JulesJules · 26/09/2026 16:51

I also love the second dress! Not so keen on the sequins of the first dress.

I got married in March (in 1994...) and wore a long sleeved dark green velvet dress which I loved, I didn't want a "weddingy" dress though.

Hazyjinty · 26/09/2026 18:02

The second one is stunning, the first is a nice dress but the second one rocks

devfire · 26/09/2026 18:18

I'm really torn, I've actually listed them on vinted as I'm just not feeling it!

It doesn’t really matter how we think about the dresses if you don’t feel stunning then you need to keep looking, xx

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 26/09/2026 20:53

@Bzr And Needle and Thread is expensive? They are 100% polyester. I chose dresses in line with this level of fabric. I’d spend more and get out of polyester, but it’s not my budget. As I said, My Theresa has much better options.

devfire · 26/09/2026 22:05

I've ordered this one now 🫣

Ponte polyester will be fine. Holds its shape well. Looks like a wedding dress that’s chic.

VanillaImpulse · 27/09/2026 01:34

I preferred the feathery one in the original post

Lamelie · 27/09/2026 05:04

I really loved the feathery one too! Let us know how the ordered one looks on.

I don't think that it's the dress for you, OP.

I think that the problem with dresses with lots of frou-frou for petites is that the fringing, feathering etc adds width which isn't flattering.

A more streamlined silhouette would look better.

I wonder whether a shopping trip, where you can try things on, would be a good option for you.

3peassuit · 27/09/2026 09:27

The new dress you’ve ordered is nice but the long dress is fabulous.

didgeridid · 27/09/2026 09:35

We got married at 5pm on a Saturday in December 😊 I went looking at dresses for fun with my mum ( wasn't going to get a wedding dress) and found the perfect one in a charity shop that had a whole section of wedding, prom and cocktail dresses. It cost £125!
I like both your dresses but if you aren't 100% have a look at second hand too.
Congratulations 🎉
