Soft brushed cotton/jersey shorts for toddler

DS is only 15 months but already wears clothing for age 2-3 years as he is very tall.

I can't find nice soft cotton or jersey shorts for him. I wanted soft, comfortable ones that won't be tight around his waist and that have some "give" in them.

he looks a bit silly in cropped trousers - they tend to look like trousers that are just too short

any ideas?

This summer I have found nice jersey shorts in Next (colourful stripes), H&M (plain blue) and Mothercare (also stripes), all very soft and not too tight on the waist.
