I’m looking for a stylish trainer that is genuinely waterproof that I can walk a fair distance in - commute to work - any thoughts or recs? Needs to have some arch support not completely flat. Thanks

Watching like a hawk! I have been looking for similar which are not black or white

op if you want white or black leather, Fitflop rally may suit

MissyB1 · 01/09/2026 07:42

Skechers used to do a waterproof trainer I remember having a pair, but I’m not sure they do them anymore 🤔

Girlintheframe · 01/09/2026 07:46

I’ve had a couple of pairs of adidas Terrex which are good though I struggled to get a style I liked last time so ended up with a pair of Solomon gortex trainers which are really comfy and keep my feet dry.

edited to say- I’m not sure how stylish I would class them as I wear them for work during winter. You might be better with just a normal leather pair of trainers

I have gore tex Hoka, they meet your waterproof and comfort requirements in spades, but the style bit…

I bought the waterproof Nike Junipers last year and I love them so much! I have just looked though and they seem to be out of stock everywhere now. If you go on sportsshoes.com you can filter the trainers down by waterproof. There’s quite a few to choose from. I also have Terrex walking trainers and they’re good but too heavy for every day, look for trail runners. They’re light and just feel like normal trainers

I have Mitzi walking shoes from Trespass. Amazing value in the sale! Wore mine in wet Scotland and Norway and they are waterproof! Very comfortable too.

Flowydress · 01/09/2026 09:25

Thanks all. I have walking boots, I just want something a little more stylish for work

I have goretex new balance. Which are great and look the same as their other trainers. They do keep the rain out, but they're obviously limited by the style and in pouring rain you will still get wet feet.

These adidas trainers - I literally live in them. Never got feet wet even when walking through puddles. I’ve walked miles in them and never had a problem.

I love the look of the Junipers but AI tells me they are not waterproof. Having ruined a pair of new Hoffs in heavy rain, as well as squelching around in them uncomfortably for hours on a day trip to London, I really don't want to make the same mistake again.
Do your Nike Junipers keep out heavy rain?

Yeah they aren’t all waterproof. Only certain ones. It looks to me like the waterproof are all out of stock everywhere now. Mine are VERY waterproof but I can’t find them in stock anywhere. I hope they bring out another pair of waterproof ones as I love them so much and they are so comfy.

I have On Cloud ones which are really waterproof.

I think they were called Geo. Mine are purple and black. Have run them under a tap and no water inside.

thedogisfine · 01/09/2026 15:17

I have on cloud waterproofs which I love

Just trying to help OP. Lots of the suggestions are technically walking/hiking shoes, because you asked for “genuinely waterproof that I can walk a fair distance in”. Some hiking/walking shoes are marketed so people wear them as day to day trainers with the benefit of build quality. The brand On has made a business out of that.

Why not actual walking shoes rather than trainers?

Clarks have these:

I really like the uppers of these but hate the thick, chunky soles. I don't need the extra height.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude. I get it's a tricky request, which is why I posted here. But I have two pairs of hiking boots, just trying to find something I like the look of that is also a trainer/waterproof.

Because I love trainers and I already have hiking shoes

Travel in your walking boots and change into something breathable when you get there. Your feet will thank you.

Georgiemc · 01/09/2026 17:05

I wear Salomon XT-6 gore tex

Gengha · 01/09/2026 20:41

I think Ecco might do some, albeit I haven’t bought them.

HowwillIkn0w · 02/09/2026 06:34

I wear Brooks Ghost goretex trainers when it’s raining. Don’t know if they count as stylish but they are comfy and waterproof.

Yes Ecco are a good shout.
