Is it worth straightening teeth at 50?

Turned 50 this year and wondering about getting my teeth sorted. I have some teeth that have moved since I had my fixed brace as a teenager and no retainer in the old days. I don’t mind Invisalign or fixed braces. I went to a couple of orthodontists a few years ago to ask about it and they only seemed to recommend Invisalign. Is it too late to bother sorting my teeth?

I also have a non symmetrical bite / jaw line so I think this would help improve things. Other issue is some recession.

Do you have a private dentist anyway? Mine does orthodontic work anyway- not all the dentists in the practice but they have a couple who do.
If yours doesn't , they can often recommend dentists in your area.
Otherwise it's google, read the reviews, go for a consultation with at least 2 different ones and see what they suggest.
Not everyone is a candidate for Invisalign. I wanted it but was told it was unsuitable and I'd need a fixed brace.

I’m torn between Invisalign and fixed, price diff Invisalign £800 more. Orthodontist said no difference in effectiveness. What do I do?!!

I would go for fixed braces as I hate the faff of taking the Invisalign things out to eat, then brushing and putting them back in and keeping them clean.

Don't hesitate @Fatbadger50 it'll only get worse believe me. (Just had implants @65)

I had Invisalign in my 40s (now 53) and it's one of the best things I've ever done. As well as my teeth looking great (orthodontist was a perfectionist) they are so much more comfortable in my mouth! I have metal retainers that I wear all the time which are comfortable and I don't notice them. Well worth doing.

I got invisalign at 39 and my dentist said he has loads of invisalign patients in their 40s and 50s, and even some in their 60s. It’s not that unusual these days.

I was really apprehensive about starting but to be honest it’s been totally fine. I only have 3 weeks to go and it’s flown by, really glad I did it. Just be aware that you’ll be told to wear your retainer at night for life to stop them moving back, this doesn’t bother me but I know a lot of people are really surprised and put off by this.

I’ve just had my fixed braces off at 49. Totally worth it!
